When it comes to fishermen what you generally get is a hyperbolic story about a fish so-o-o long. In Puerto Rico, however, they tell about the size of the lilies they sit on. Teddy Hume, 4, drops his line from a gargantuan lily of the world’s largest species. It is 53 inches in diameter. This giant is one of many such flat tops growing at the U. S. government agricultural experiment Staton at Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. When You and I Were Young — Wandering Willie Comes Out Second Best in Scuffle with O’Neill Peace Officers A SO YEARS AGO July 12. 1«9S A party of O’Neill sports spent a day and a night fish ing at the lakes about 12 miles east of this city last week The boys arrived at the camp i grounds about an hour before' dark, pitched their tent and went fishing. In about an hour j they had captured about 20 j pounds of bass, took them to camp and began directing ; them preparatory to having the (evening meal. After having [them prepared in a proper manner, they chanted a mourn | ful tune around the bier and ! proceeded to enjoy themselves. After their return home they had many stories to tell about their wonderful ex ploits in the fishing line which caused many to re ; mark that the bier must have been a large one. The editor is absent this week in Omaha, and while it may seem a little improper we are obliged to inform our readers that the management of The Frontier is in the hands of the devil. It beats the dev il a little to play the role of editor, compositor, and all round booster, but we expect to be held responsible, so the devil is to pay. A Wandering Willie, who was enjoying himself in the vicin ity of the roundhouse last Sat urday night was taken in ' charge of the officers after a few rounds had been fought under rough and tumble rules, the journeyman coming out j second best. I street. We predict that it will be one of the popular spots of I the city. Real Estate Transfers (Editor’s note: A glossary of the abbreviations follows: WD —warrants deed; QCD — quit claim deed. A badly corroded ear ring of coiled cop per wire was still attached to the ear. Further investigation by the authorities, located a grave in the bank of the riv er, which had been exposed by recent high waters. A cop per finger ring was found on : one of the finger bones in the grave. Soil indications are that the skeleton is that of a race pos sibly antedating the Indian. The skull and the portions of the bones and ornaments are being preserved by Sheriff Duffy, at O'Neill.
