Begin 2 Weeks’ Study
on Monday
EWING—The annual daily
vacation Bible school, sponsor
ed by the Protestant churches
of Ewing, Monday opened a 2
weeTcs’ session.
Classes are being held each
morning from 9 to 11 in the
Methodist church.
Participating churches are the
H Methodist, Free Methodist,
Church of Christ, and the Unit
ed .Presbyterian.
Mrs. R. G. Rockey is the reg
istrar. The pre-school classes
are being supervised by Mrs.
Willie Shrader; the primary
classes by Mrs. Richard Nap
ier; the juniors by Fern Pru
den; and the intermediates by
Rev. C. Donald Vogel.
Others who are helping with
the conduct of the school are
Mrs. E. L. Norwood, Mrs. Flor
ence Butler, Anna Van Zandt,
and Beth Billings.
Halvorsens Return
to North Dakota —
INMAN—Mr. and Mrs. Cal
mer Halverson, who visited re
cently in the George Sobotka
home, left Sunday, May 16, for
their home in Cando, N. D.
f They were accompanied home
by Mrs. Halverson’s 3 sisters,
Georgella, Elizabeth Ann and
Sh>lia Jean, who will spend
the summer in North Dakota.

Ranch in White Prepares
for Opening 1948 Season

NAPER—T h e 10th annual
national albino horse show
will be held at the famous
White Horse ranch near here
on Saturday and Sunday, June
5 and 6. Horses from many
points in Canada and the U. S.
will participate.
The exhibition will mark
the opening of the 1948 sea
son for the White Horse
show, which in the past has
been featured at many of
the leading fairs and festiv
als in the land.
The White Horse ranch is lo
cated 6 miles south of Naper
or 20 miles north of Stuart.
This unusual collection ol
white horses has a background
dating to 1913. Ail of them,
now registered and known as
American Albinos, have Deen
bred and raised on the White
Horse ranch. The herd today

these beautiful horses.
The Ranch in White as it is
known, is the headquarters foi
the largest collection of white
animals in existence, and many
new species are being added
each year. This ranch is also
the home of the Ranch in
White training and riding
school where many children
come to learn to ride and train
horses.
The Ranch in White has
been featured in some of the
leading national m a g a- ;
zines, such as Life, American
Magazine, and others, and
plans are underway for Para
mount Pictures, Inc., to make
a series of "Unusual Occu
pations" pictures for exhi
bition throughout the world.
Warner Bros, picture. "Ranch
in White." is still exhibiting
in many theatres. Interna
tional Harvester also featur
ed the ranch in a short fea
ture in technicolor.
The founders of the ranch.
Cal and Ruth Thompson, are
now developing an all girl
ranch which will be run en
tirely by women. They are also
taking in many underprivileged
girls and boys, assisting these
youngsters in opening a better
future for them. They are
taught the love of animals as
well as the things of nature.
Merry Mix Meets —
Mrs. H. L. Lindberg was
hostess to the members of the
Merry Mix Club Tuesday, May
18 at her home. Winners were
Mrs. J. D. Osenbaugh, high,
and Mrs. R. M. Sauers, second
high.

Youth Group Sees
African Colored Slides—

Africa, featured the entertain
ment at a meeting Friday, May
14. of the Rural Youth group
in the courthouse annex. The
slides were shown by Earl Dtx,
of Butte, who has recently re
turned from mission work at
Bondo, Belgian Congo.
He told the audience about
native customs, his mission
work, and of narrow escapes
from wild animals during 19
years there.
New Rural Youth members
