EMMET NEWS Harold Winkler spent several days the past week visiting his brother, Roy, at North Platte. Mrs. Cecil McMillian left Fri * day morning for Omaha where she will spend several weeks vis iting her children. Mrs. Walter Puckett visited Mrs. Agnes Gaffney Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Foreman and daughter, Jeanne Kay, visit ed at the James Foreman home in Atkinson Sunday afternoon Mr. and Mrs. Hemy Benze and girls visited at the Joe Bartos home in Atkinson Sunday after noon. Mrs. Alex McConnell left for Omaha Saturday morning where she will visit her daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lit tle. Mr. and Mrs. William Grothe, jr., and family vi ited at the Lou Prange home near Atkinson Sunday afternoon. 4 Mr. and Mrs. Art Jurgensmeier and son, Jerry, of O’Neill, visit ed the Joe Jurgensmeier home Sunday evening. Hugh O’Connor, of Atkinson, visited at the James O’Connor home Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Winkler and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Reis, of Atkinson, were Sunday visitors at the William Grothe, sr., home. Fred Perry and daughter, Dor is, were Sunday dinner guests at the Dean Perry home. Oscar Grunke visited Henry Benze Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Grothe and family were Sunday dinner guests at the Bert Henning home near Atkinson. , Mrs. Agnes Gaffney visited at the Ed Flood home in O’Neill Saturday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Luben, of ^ Inman, and Mrs. Merlin Luben and son, Gary, of Clearwater, vis ited at the June Luben home Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Josie Ashe, of Omaha, spent several days this week vis iting at the home of C. E. Ten borg. Mrs. Ashe and Mrs. Ten borg are sisters. AMELIA NEWS Richard Porter and son, Mar vin, were weekend guests in the Frank Backhaus home. Mrs. Ha old Fullerton and girls visited Hazel Ott Monday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Neil Fry and children, of Alliance, visited in the Clarence Fry home Sunday. Dean Standage c.me last Thursday from Pleasanton, la., for a tractor for his brother, Lawrence. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Pierce were- Sunday afternoon callers in the Ralph Rees home. Mrs. Vein Lagner is visiting with her mother at Council Bluffs, la. Mr. and Mrs. Percy Strenger and son, of Marden, were Sunday visitors in the Lindsay home. Miss Bernadette Daily sp nt the weekend in the Clyde Burge home. GIRL SCOUT NEWS Suzanne Moss, Troop Scribe The Irish Lassies Girl Scout troop had a business meeting at St. Mary’s academy Sunday to plan a party they are havting next Sunday at the K C hall from 5:30 to 9 p.m. » We would like all the 6th to 9th grade boys and girls come. Admission will be 20 cents. Three will be games f nd square dancing. Pop, ice cream and hot dogs w'ill be served. Mrs. Carroll Stewart helped us conduct our la t meeting. We used our new' flags for the first tjme. We bought them with the money donated by Harding i Cre m Co., for helping se.ve a lunch at a meeting. Mrs. Dean Streeter has consen ted to be our new’ leader; the 1 girls are very glad, as we now | will take in 10 new’ members i in this troop. Any girl between j the ages of 10 and 16, who would I like to join, please call Mrs. Merle Hickey. We will take new members in sometime in May, w’hen w’e have our investi ture ceremony. Mrs. C. E. Streeter returned during the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Matthews, o f Omaha, after having spent a week with the Matthews. Mrs. Streeter’s son, Eugene, drove to Lincoln with the Matthews where he has accepted a position in the Matthews’ new church goods store. We said YES! when everybody else said NO!
