9FF Club Meets — Mrs. Harold Weir entertained the 9FF bridge club Wednesday at a 7 p.m. dinner at the M & M cafe. Cards were played later at the Weir home. Mrs. Herbert Peterson won high score; Mrs. Fred Saunton, second; Mrs. Rob ert Evans, all-cut. The club members honored Mrs Peterson with a handker chief shower at the evening’s close. The occasion was her birth day anniversary. Presbyterian Circles Meet Today — Mrs. C. E. Melena and Mrs. Christine Williams entertained Cirle I of the Presbyterian church today (Thursday) at the Presby terian church basement. Mrs. J. E. Davis and Mrs. D. C. Schaffer entertained Circle II of the Pres bterian church at Mrs. Davis’ home. Mrs. Cronin Entertains — Mrs. F. N. Cronin Tuesday en tertained the Martez at a 7 p. m. dinner at the M & M. Bridge was played afterwards at the Cronin home with Mrs. Homer Mullen, Miss Helen Biglin and Mrs. Edw'ard Campbell winning prizes. Double-Wedding Reminiscent o f One Here in 1907 While the first rays of the morning sun glinted on the quaint Spanish-styled St. Peter’s Catho lic church in Beverly Hills, Calif., a double-wedding took place that was reminiscent of a similiar affair 30 years ago in St. Patrick’s Catholic church at O’ Neill. Those exchanging nuptial vows at the 1946 double - ceremony were John J. Stein and Frances Louise Myers, and Richard R. Si^in and Betty Jo Hamilton. The bridegrooms are sons of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Stein, formerly of | O'Neill. In November, 1907, Zeffa Zie mer and Walter Stein, and Zella Ziemer and Oscar Marcotte, were | married here by Rev. Gibbons. Following the Beverly Hills nuptials, the Stein home was the scene of a reception attended by more than 100 guests There were twin three-tiered wedding cakes atop a white damasked covered table. Guests coming from a distance included Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Ziemer, of San Francisco, Calif.; Mrs. Jack Salmans, of Merced, Calif.; and Mrs. Joseph F. Hamil ton, of Medford, Ore., mothet of one of the brides. Both bridegrooms saw over seas service during World War II. It was the fist double-ring cere mony performed by Rev. Lee in j St. Peter’s church. Women Teachers Honored Guests The women teachers of the O’ Neill public school faculty were the honored guests at a meeting of the O’Neill Woman’s club held Wednesday evening at the home of Mrs. D. H. Clauson. The music portion of the pro gram was in charge of Mrs. John Watson, Mrs. Lorenz Bredemeier, and Ms. Howard Manson. The double-ring ceremony took place at 8 a m. in St. Boni-: face Catholic church. The bride appeared in a tur quoise dressmaker suit. She was attended by her sister, Miss Ber nice Jardee, of Omaha. The bridegroom’s attendant was Ralph McGuire, of Columblus. Both the bride and bridegroom are graduates of Stuart high school. The bride has been em ployed in the office of Holt Coun ty Treasurer J. Ed Hancock foi the past four years. The bridegroom is a member of the Kay Mills dance orches tra. The couple will reside in Col umbus. Goldenrod Club Prepares for Christmas — The Goldenrod Project club met at the home of Mrs. T. F. Higgins on November 13 with 12 members answering roll call. Plans were made to fill a Christmas gift box for needy children. The lesson “Christmas Buffet” and “Holiday Food Gifts” was demonstrated by Mrs. Lee Os born and Mrs Roy Wayman. Sodality Meets — The boarder-members of the Sodality at St Mary’s academy enjoyed a social meeting in charge of junior class members. Miss Constance Donlin, of Bris tow, was1 awarded- first honors for having the best limeric. Person ations were also given.
