Cardinals ift for No. folk wher hey were defeated by the Sacrrd Heart team 36-18. Bill Froelieh started the ball rolling for the Ca dinals by making a basket a I few minutes after the game be gan. The score at the. end of the first quarter was 10-5 for Sacred Heart. During the second qiterter the score was a little more even, after the Can.inals became ac quainted with the floor. Me li ma and Wallace we: e doing very much inter cep ung of passes from the Sacred Heart team. The score at the half was 19-14. After the half the Cards were still on top stopping the shots of made four mo: e points during were not so lucky. The Cards Sacred Heart but /they themselves this quarter which left their score 18, whereas Sacren Heart had made six which put their score to 25. During the final quarter Froe lieh was still hot but it seems that he wasn't making very many baskets. Me:riman made a few center shots, but the Cardinals were just about lost on their floor. With plenty of buyers on hand still eager for replacement cattle prices held stealy to strong | at the season’s highest figures.1 Choice feeding steers in carload lots sold up to 14.50 a hund: el weight, while yearling steers of good to choice quality were bring- j ing between 14.00 and 15.00 a j hund.eth weight. Steer calves of top quality moved between 15.00 and 16.00 a cwt., medium kinds at 12.50 to 14.00. Top heifer calves were commanding 13.00 to 13.75; medium to good kinds 12.00 to 12.50. Yearling heifers brought from 11.50 to 12.50 a hundred weight and all classes of feed ing and buitcher cows were fully steady with a week ago. Bulls sold firm to higher. Hog receipts were down to a trickle, farmers holding them back pending clarification of the Packing House strike. What few were on( sale sold at or near ceil ing prices to local butchers.
