sister of the deceased. Gertrude
M. Bedford, and one of her heirs

owner of an undivided one-half
interest in the above described

conveyances: that the prayer of

may find and determine the
time of the death o' Gertrude M.
Bedford; that she died intestate
a resident and inhabitant of Holt

native grass belt in the world.

wives, of Hampton, Iowjj, were

Frontier. Luther, the elder, re
called some long forgotten inci
dents when we were kids in
southern Wisconsin during a j

fat for profit in a feed lot.

Mrs. Ralph Vorce went to
Omaha Friday to meet her hus
band, Pfc. Ralph Vorce, who re
cently returned to the United
States, after spending eighteen
months in the European thtater
of operations. They returned
home Saturday.

ing. Mrs. Bigler has retired,
after twenty years service with J

Atkinson and Stuart attended the
dinner. John Taylor, of Grand
island, and Miss Ellen Grossbeck,

jent. Mrs. Bigler was presented
with a lovely gift.
The Martez Club opened their
season Tuesday evening with a
dinner at the M and M cafe. Mrs.
Edward Campbell was hostess.
The dinner was given in honor of
Mrs. Homer Mullen who is mov
ing to Scribner. Following the
dinner contract was played at the
Campbell home. High scores
were won by Mrs. H. J. Lohaus,
Mrs. F. N. Cronin and Mrs. Homer
Mullen. Mrs. Mullen was also
presented with a lovely farewell
gift.

discharge from the United States

Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Froelich
returned Sunday from New York
City, where they had gone on a
business trip. Mr. Froelich left
Monday for Chicago.

official of the order who conducts

county court charging James
Morrison with operating gamb
ling devices at his place of busi
ness on Highway 20 in the vicin
ity of Ewing. Date for hearing
has not been set. The complaint
is signed by Deupty Sheriff John
, Laasworth. The sheriff’s are
| cleaning up slot machines and
punch board gambling in the
county. A total of five slot mach
ines. two in O'Neill, have been
confiscated within recent weeks
and a sort o* crusade is on to end
this sort of gaming within the
.ample borders of Holt county.

Stocker Feeder Calf
Show and Sale
MONDAY, OCTOBER 8th
The ninth annual stocker feeder calf
show and sale will be held at O’Neill
on Monday, Oct. 8. The showing of the
4H Club, calves will be held in the
morning, starting at 9 o'clock. After
the show the 4H Club calves will be
sold. The commercial calf sale will
follow approximately 2000 calves to be
sold. Calves for 4H work may be bought
or calves in carload lots for feeding.
Ranchers and farmers are invited to
attend the 4H show and sale. This is
the place to buy outstanding calves.
