Miss Helen Toy of Lhadron spent the week-end here visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Anton Toy Sr., and other resatives and friends. Mrs. Jack Morrison left Monday for Boston, Mass., to visit her hus band. He is on shore leave from the navy. Jerry Toy, who is attend ing the University of Arkansas, at Fayetteville, arrived Saturday to visit his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Anton Toy Sr., and other relatives and friends. Charles McManus received word this week that his son, Ed ward, who has been stationed in Alaska with the army, has ar rived in Seatte, Wash., and ex pects to be home in the next ten days. Miss Lois Bahm, of Lincoln, ar rived Tuesday to visit Mr. and Mrs. Anton Toy, Sr., and family. The Lions Club held their Char ter night at the Golden hotel on Wednesday, with seventy-two people present, including members and their wives and guests. Jack Arbuthnot, of the Arbuth not Oil Company, left last Thurs day for Farragut, Idaho, where he takes his Navy preliminary training. During his absence the oil station will be lookedl after by his mother, Mrs. R. L.Arbuthnot with the assistance of Charles Manson, who has for years been an employee of filling stations in the city and is well posted in the oil business. We predict they will make a success of its opera tion and will keep the home fires burning. O’Neill relatives have received word that Cpl. Lester Shoemaker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Shoe maker of this city, who is station ed at Texarkana, Texas, has been promoted to Sargeant.
