All members were present but Dean and Norman Oberle, Harold Krugman and Donald Ridgeway. Demonstration projects were ex amined and discussed by the club. Group discussions were held on how their projects were doing. A short quiz was given and later discussed. The meeting was ad journed until the Saturday be fore Achievement Day. Miss Edith Morrow of Grand Island spent the week-end here visiting her parents and other rel atives and friends. Bob Cook returned Tuesday from Omaha, where he spent the week-end visiting his wife, and other relatives and friends. The Days Of Long Ago (Continued from page five) The Frontier, August 3, 1933. R. H. Parker left Sunday morn ing for Chicago, where he expects to put in a couple of weeks at tending the exposition. After three days of torrid, sweltering heat and one fairly cool day, a drenching rain visited this section of the state last Tues day evening, bringing joy to the hearts of all residents and life to many parched corn fields. The rainfall in this city was 3.28 inches, and was much heavier in other parts of the county. Mrs. Garret Janzing died at her home northwest of this city last Saturday afternoon at 1:10, after an illness of several months of cancer, at the age of 58 years, 7 months and 1 day. The funeral was held Monday from the Cath olic church in Emmet and burial in Calvary cemetery here. The Frontier, August 10, 1933. James J. Shorthill of Emmet died in a hospital at Norfolk last Sunday morning about 10:45, at the age of 44 years, 1 month and 3 days, from a broken neck which he received when he dived into shallow water in the Elkhorn river near Emmet Sunday after noon of last week. M. H. Horriskey and sisters, Miss Mary and Mrs. Kate Miller and son, Billie, left last Tuesday morning for a ten-day visit at the exposition at Chicago. L. G. Art King and Jack Grady left last Sunday morning, via bicycle, for a few days’ outing at Long Pine. Last Saturday Postmaster Henry Grady received a letter from Post master General Farley asking for his resignation as postmaster in this city. As Henry’s time had expired on January 14. 1933, he did not see the need of sending in a resignation, but he complied with the Postmaster General's re quest and forwarded his resigna tion, effective on August 31, 1933. Archie Bowen returned last Fri day from a ten-day visit to the Chicago exposition. The Frontier, August 24, 1933. M. R. Sullivan took over the iob as postmaster of this city last Tuesday evening, succeeding Henry D. Grady, who has filled the position for the past nine years. Miss Marjorie Dickson returned last Saturday from a vacation of two weeks spent at the World’s Fair at Chicago and visiting rel atives and friends in Omaha. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Gusse andi children of Thayer, Nebr., arrived j yesterday for a couple of weeks I visit at the home of Mrs. Gusse’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. August Hoppe, living northwest of this city.
