Edward Murphy has accepted a position at Johnson’s drug store and started working there on Sat urday. Miss Dorothy Moore went to Omaha Sunday, where she en rolled as a freshman at Duchesne College. Mrs. A. B. Gladson of Omaha came Sunday and will visit her mother, Mrs. J. H. McPharlin, until Friday. Frank Spindler has received word from his son, Allen Spind ler, who is with the U S. Marines, that he has been promoted from Corporal to Sergeant. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kurtz and daughter, Konnie Kay, returned to their home at Wausa, Sunday, after spending several days visit ing Mrs. Kurtz’ parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Brown. Mrs. Casper Pribil took her daughter, Geneva, and Miss Ruth Pribil to Sioux City on Monday, where the girls will take a nurse training course at St. Vincent’s hospital. • Miss Fay Brunckhurst of In man has accepted a position at the Ideal Market and started working there Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Homer Lounsbury of Almo, Texas, carpe Sunday to visit a few days at the home of his brother, Gerald, and wife. Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Switzer left today* for Deadwood, S. D., where they will visit her brother, L. C. Pugh, for a few days before go ing to Ogden, Utah, and Ameri can Falls, Idaho, to visit her sis ters, Mrs. J. L. Pope and Mrs. F. W. Baisch, for ten days. Mrs. Dan Sullivan of St. Lib ory was a guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Winchell from last Thursday until Saturday. Miss Eileen Robertson of this city has accepted a position with the Central Finance Corporation at Neligh and started on her new duties Monday. Parnell Golden of Omaha came Wednesday and is visiting his brother, M. J. Golden, and fam ily and other relatives for a few days. The Woman’s Cub met at the home of Mrs. Bennett Gillespie Wednesday afternoon. Commit tees for the coming year were ap pointed and Mrs. Cowperthwaite read a paper on correct English. The next meeting will be at the home of Mrs. James Rooney in October. Dr. and Mrs. J. L. Sherbahn returned Sunday from Wayne, where they had been called by the illness and death of his father, who pased awajj at Wayne on Thursday of last week. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Martyn and family of Central City were guests Saturday and Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Parkins and other friends. Mrs. Elma Evans of O’Neill and Mrs. George Henderson of San Francisco, Calif., went to Omaha Tuesday, where Mrs. Evans will undergo a major operation at St. Catherine’s hospital. Robert Mitchell left Sunday for Des Moines, Iowa, where he will be a sophomore at Drake Univer sity this year. Anton Toy went to Omaha Sun day to attend Fall Market week. Miss Eunice Hunt returned to Omaha Sunday, after a few days' visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. D. Hunt. Miss Mary Ann Fisher left Fri day for Salt Lake City, Utah, where she has employment. Miss Emy Lu Fisher left Fri day for Menominee, Mich., where she will teach commercial in the Menominee public school. Shaffer of Emmet took their daughter, Pat ty, and Keith Vincent of O’Neill to Lincoln Wednesday, where they will enroll at the University of Nebraska. Dr. and Mrs. Louis Brennan and sons left Tuesday for their home at Memphis, Tenn., after spending a week visiting his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. James Bren nan, and other relatives. Mrs. Will Phillips of Viewfield, S. D„ Mrs. George Reichert of Hereford, S. D., and Mrs. Arnold McPherson of Rapid City, S. D., visited at the homes of Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Boshart, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Boshart and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Wrede on Monday and Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. W. J. West and daughter, Mrs. Wm.
