As a result the to tal receipts were the lightest here in 1942. However, prices showed an upward trend and the general market undertone was firm thru out. Action was brifek. Steer calves of good quality reached $14.00 with the bulk cash ing from $12.50 to $13.50. Heifer calves, topped at $12.00 with $10.50 to $11.50 claiming the long end of the supplies. Good yearlings moved readily at $12.00. Other grades sold from $11.00 to $11.50. The yearling supplies were rather limited. Beef cows topped at $9.00 with commoner kinds paying $7.00 to $8.00. A fair supply of breeding and feeding cows sold mostly by the head. Bulls cashed around $9.00. An extreme top of $13.35 was paid for butchers with the bulk moving at $13.25 to $13.30. A few sows reached $13.00, but the popular price hovered near $12.75. Good stock pigs paid up wards to $15.00. The next regular auction will be held on Monday, March 30. American Legion Auxiliary Met Last Week The regular meeting of the' American Legion Auxiliary to Simonson Post No. 93 was held at the assembly Room of the court house on Tuesday evening. A very nice crowd was in attend-1 ance. A fine report was made by the treasurer on the proceeds of the Food Sale held last week. It was unanimously voted to spon sor the collection of books and magazines for the U. S. A. and committees were appointed for this work.
