Western Star Chapter
Meeting Last Thursday
Thursday, March 12, the West
ern Star Chapter held a school of
instruction with Mrs. Donna Nich
ols of Norfolk as their district
supervisor. Officers of the chap
ter were given instructions in
their work during the afternoon
session.
At 8:30 a banquet was served
to a large nujnber of members
at a local cafe. The favors and
tables'were beautifully decorated
in Star colors. - '
During the evening regular
chapter was held with about
forty present. The initiatory
work was beautifully exempli
fied. Mrs. Anna McCartney,
Worthy Matron of the O’Neill
chapter, and H. G. Kruse, acting
as Worthy Patron, in place of
Harold Lindberg who was ill.
Lunch was served to the guests
at the close of the evening.
BRIEFLY STATED
Mr. and Mrs. Art Barnes were
pleasantly surprised at a farewell
party at their home Sunday even
ing, when six couples dropped in
to spend the evening. The evening
was sent playing cards and bingo.
Lunch was served.
Judge D. Mounts and J. D.
Cronin were in Omaha Sunday
and Monday on business.
Mrs . John Protivinsky left
Tuesday for Sioux Falls, S. D., to
visit her daughter and son-in
law, Mr. and Mrs. Claude John
son and family.
William Herman drove Mrs.
Olive Pendergast to Grand Island
Monday to visit her granddaugh
ter, Carolyn Warner, of Broken
Bow who is in St. Francis hospit
al recovering from a major oper
ation that she underwent Friday.
Miss Margaret Miller spent
the week end in Norfolk visiting
friends.

attend the Basketball tournament
and to visit friends over the week

Mrs. Julia Graves entertained

home Monday evening at a 7:30
dessert and bridge. Mrs. John
Osenbaugh was a guest.
Mrs. Bill Lewis left Saturday
for Fort Riley, Kansas, to join
her husband, who has a position
there.

of Masons in Nebraska. He is
called to the U. S. Army and
leaves on April 3, and he wanted
to take his degrees before leaving.
Twelve friends of J. A. Barnes
had a surprise farewell party for
him at his home Friday evening.
The evening was spent playing
games and he was presented with
a bill fold.
Mrs. Anna McCartney spent
Monday and Tuesday in Butte
on business.
W. J. McDonough and sons,
Bob and Billy, went to Omaha
Saturday, where Bob enlisted in
the U. S. Navy Reserve as a me
chanic. They returned home Sun
day.
