Edward, Donald and Helen Rath Gallagher of Lincoln, Nebr., ar rived here on Tuesday to attend the funeral of their grandmother, Mrs. Mary Gallagher. B. J. Boyle and Jack Redman, of Omaha, drove to O'Neill on Tues day to attend the funeral of Mrs. Mary Gallagher. George McCarthy drove to Hast ings on Friday, returning on Sat urday bringing with him his wife and infant daughter. Miss Muriel Brittell and Maxine Barnes, of Sioux City, Iowa, spent Sunday here visiting at the home of their parents. Freeman Arbo left on Wednes day for Lincoln, where he will enter the Veterans hospital for treatment. Mr. and Mrs. Frank McDermott, of Omaha, arrived here on Tuesday evening to attend the funeral of Mrs. Mary Gallagher. Mr. and Mrs. James Walling re turned Sunday evening from Au rora, Nebr., where they spent the week end visiting friends. Mr. and Mrs. Fred McNally, of North Platte. Nebr., arrived here on Tuesday to spend a few days visiting relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Cronin and daughter. Frances Jane, of Grand Island, spent the week end in O’Neill visiting relatives. Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Reardon drove to Kearney. Nebr., on Sunday and visited their daughter, Mrs. E. G. Nelson, who is in a hospital there. Captain and Mrs. Ronnie Schrin er and daughter, Constance, spent Friday and Saturday here visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. R. Smith, Jr. Miss Eileen Davidson left Wed nesday morning for her home in Omaha, after visiting here for a few days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Janie* Davidson. Ira E. Norton of Detroit, Mich., arrived here on Friday evening to attend the funeral of Mrs. Minnie Bowen, who died at Elgin on Feb ruary IS, and was buried at Cham bers on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. John A. Spencer, of Park River, North Dakota, ar-! rived in O’Neill on Wednesday morning and will make this city their home. Rev. Spencer has ac ( cepted the pastorate of the Presby terian church in this city. William Wyant of O’Neill was arrested on Tuesday, February 18.1 charged with being drunk and dis-J orderly and was sentenced to 30 days in jail by Police Judge George Bay. G. E. Mott of Stuart, was arrest ed by Assistant Chief of Police Frank Grenier on Wednesday and charged with being drunk and was fined SI.00 and costs by Police Judge Bay. Emil W. Block of O’Neill’ was arrested by Chief of Police Chet Calkins on Monday evening and charged w'ith disturbing the peace. He was fined $10 and costs of $2.70 in Police court by Judge Bay. Mrs. James Walling entertained her bridge club at seven o’clock dinner at the M & M cafe, followed by cards at her home. Mrs. Wall ing and Miss Grace Connolly win ning high scores at bridge. Merrill Murdy of O’Neill, who was arrested by Chief of Police Chet Calkins on Sunday, charged with disturbing the peace and re sisting arrest, appeared before Basketball! ST. He was fined $10 on each count and costs of $fU0. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lohaus and Mrs. Mary McLeod drove to Omaha on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Lohaus returned in the evening, but Mrs. McLeod remained to visit her daughter, Mrs. Mark Fangman and other relatives for the next week or ten days. Mr. and Mrs. John Sclunidt and son, John, left Wednesday morn ing for Omaha. John enlisted in the navy for a three year period a couple of weeks ago and has passed his medical and physical ex eminations and will he mustered into the service Thursday. He will be sent to the Great Lakes train ing station for a time. After the lease-lend bill is pass ed Congress can go and visit the Panama Canal in a body if it wants to. Methodist Church V. C.
