Johnnie Protivinsky, who is at tening school at Sioux Falls, S. D., arrived home the last of the week to spend the holidays with his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. John Proti vinsky. Larry Kane, of Dubuque, Iowa, arrived here on Thursday on busi ness connected with the transfer of the Inter-State properties to the Consumers Public Power, of Colum bus. Melvin Cizek, of West Point, Nebraska, arrived here on Satur day and has accepted a position with the Central Finance Company. He will act as a territory man and assist the manager, Mr, C. E. Jones. ... Joe Connelly, who has been quite ill for the past few days was tak en on Saturday to the hospital at Norfolk, Nebraska, where his con dition has improved considerably. His wife and mother remained in Norfolk with him. Mrs. Mattie Soukup left on Sun ay for Fort Crook, Nebraska, tak ing with her the following boys, who were spending the holidays here on leave; Francis Soukup and Joe Pribil, of O’Neill, and John Sehoberg, of Spencer. i Woody Melena, who spent, Christinas here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Melena, left Sunday for Lincoln, from where he will go on to California, and at tend the Rose Bowl game on New Year’s Day. Porter entertained the members of the M M Club and their husbands at a New Year’s eve party at the home of Mrs. Lindberg on Tuesday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Fay Puckett motor, ed to Grand Island on Friday to get their daughters, Roxana Mae a nd Betty Jane. Roxanna has been working there and Betty is attend ing college. Betty will return in a couple of weeks, while Roxana will make a little longer visit. Mrs. Clara M. Cole, of Emmet, will celebrate her eighty-eighth birthday on January 1, Wednesday, and a family reunion will be held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. S. W. Brion, at Ewing, on that date. J About twenty-five members of the I family are expected to be present at the dinner. Mrs. Frank Davidson and daugh ter, Rosemary, of Los Angeles, Calif., who have been visiting her parents, at Fort Randall, S. D., for the past two weeks are expect ed here on Wednesday, where they will visit Mr. and Mrs. Jim David son before leaving about the tenth of January for their home in Cal ifornia. Directors of the O’Neill Produc tion Credit Association have set Thursday, January 16, as the date for the annual meeting of stock holders, according to D. C. Schaffer, Holt County Stockman, who is president of the association. Mr. Schaffer said the directors and Secretary-Treasurer James W. Rooney are arranging a program that should make the meeting the best in the 7-year history of the agricultural credit cooperative. Mr. and Mrs. Ira Moss and daughters, H. J. Hammond and daughter, Margaret, and s>on, George, returned on Saturday evening from Denver, Colo., where they spent the Christmas holidays with Miss Mary Lois Hammond and other relatives and friends. Mrs. H. J. Hammond, who left for Denver, shortly before Christmas, remained for a longer visit. Senator Elect Tony Asimus left Monday morning for Lincoln, where the forepart of next week he will commence duties as representative in the legislature from the Twenty eighth district. Tony thought he would go down a few days ahead of time so that he could become acquainted with the other members and get onto the ropes a little be fore the actual opening of the ses sion.
