D., spent Sunday in O’Neill visiting friends. Mrs. Virgil Johnson, of Lincoln came last week to visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Van Avery. Fred Saunto returned Friday from Omaha where he had been for the past week. Mrs. Richard Maspn visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Kry ger on Monday. Willis Bachman and Alvie Mar ocellus left Wednesday morning for Omaha on a short business trip. Mrs. C. C. Spindler, of Cario, Ne braska is here visiting at the home of her sister, Mrs. Harry Ott. O’Neill High defeated the At kinson High basket ball team in a hotly contested game on the local floor on Wednesday evening by a score of 18-15. , , . - Mr. and Mrs. Donald Boshart and Miss Beulah Burges, of Hast ings, Nebraska spent the week-end here at the htime of Donald’s par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Boshart. Miss Opal Boshart returned Sat urday after spending two weeks in Lincoln and Columbus visiting at the homes of Thomas Liddy and Mrs. Hans Egger. Mrs. Donald Gallagher, of Lin coln, Nebraska, left Friday for her home after visiting here for the past week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Gallagher, and Mrs. E. F. Gallagher. Mr. and Mrs, R. E. Lucas and son, of east of O’Neill, attended the Hoffman cattle sale at Norfolk Wednesday. The top bull was sold for $585 to Sam Swinbock, of Crawford. The Guild will meet at the home of Mrs. R. M. Sauers Thursday af ternoon, February 2. The commit tee will serve. A large crowd is desired. You are invited. Sister Calixta, of Jackson, Ne braska, arrived Friday evening, and will remain here for some time, visiting at the home of her mother, Mrs. O. F. Biglin. Sister Calixta is recovering from a recent opera tion. Miss Eileen Davidson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Davidson of this city, who was graduated from St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing this spring has accepted a position with the Union Pacific as a Stewardess and Nurse on the Los Angeles-Omaha run and will •galena LUMBER CO. enter upon her new position almost immediately. At the Archery Contest held on Tuesday in the Recreation Rooms in the old court house, the St. Mary’s Girls team defeated the girls team from the Public school. The contest was under the super vision of Orville Green. Mrs. O. W. French and Mrs. Mattie Soukup left Thurdsay morn ing for Lincoln, where Mrs. French will visit her son and daughter, Ivan and Leona, 'and Mrs. Soukup will visit her son, Fi'ancis, all of whom are students at the Univer sity of Nebraska. Mrs. Anna L. Wright, about 42, living northeast of this city, was before the insanity commission last Tuesday evening, adjudged in sane and committed to the custody of Sheriff Duffy. The sheriff took her Tuesday evening to Verges Sanitarium at Norfolk. Mrs. Theresa Connelly and daughter, Theresa and son, Med ard and Mrs. Helen Simar left Wednesday for Omaha where they will visit at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Art Turner and family. Mrs. Connelly will remain for an ex tended visit, while the others will return in a few days. E. P. Bachman, of Phoenix, Ari zona, left Monday for Omaha where he will visit for a few days before returning to his home. He has been here for rome time, visiting his brother and his family, Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Bachman, and at Stuart visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. Bachman. Jessie Smith and his sisters, the Misses Joyce and Jean, of Wyom ing, are visiting their uncle and several cousins in Page and vicin ity. The three are triplets and were born twenty-one years ago. Mrs. Smith, their mother, is a sis ter of John Door, of Page. The trio are having a delightful time visiting their many relatives and friends. The Council Oak has installed their new shelving in their store and are having the entire interior redecorated and the storeroom pre sents a very neat and attractive appearance. The new shelving is much narrower than the old and its installation gives them about four more feet of floor space in the store, therefore giving more room for customers as well as the clerks land permits them to wait on them more readily. Counters and fix tures are being repainted. Gayle Lines of Inman filed suit in the District Court on Tuesday for a divorce from her husband, Ivan Lines.
