Miss Armella Pongratz is home for the holiday vacation. Miss Pon gratz teaches the Allen school south of Emmet. Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Young had a family reunion at their home Christmas day all members of the family were now.** Mr. and Mrs. Harold Baker and children of Boulder, Colorado, ar rived here Saturday to spend the holidays with her parents, Mr. ana Mrs. Dave Bellar. The office force of the Soil Con servation at O’Neill held their an nual Christmas party at Fred Beckwith's Wednesday evening December’ 21. ’ Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Hickman and family spent Christmas day with Mr. and Mrs. Earl Collins. Miss Grace Bellar came home from Atkinson Friday, where she has been working the past five weeks. Mr. and Mrs. J. K. Ernst enter tained their children and their families at their home Christmas. Fred Beckwith entertained his sons and their families at a six o’clock dinner at his home Christ mas eve. Mrs. Rex Beckwith and Mrs. Dean Beckwith prepared the dinner. Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Keeney and daughters, of Norfolk were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Gus Seger Sunday and Monday. MEEK AND VICINITY The program and box social held in Dist. 170 on Wednesday evening was largely attended. The child ren had their parts well learned and did well. Much credit is due their teacher, Miss Velma John ring. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Devall and baby, Dwayne left on Saturday for Stapleton, where they were to spend Christmas at the home of Mrs. Devall's sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. Will Hopkin. The program and box social held at the Meek school on Friday even ing was a success, both the pro gram and the social part. The children acted their parts well, the boxes sold well. Miss Mabel Jones is the teacher. Mrs. Delia Harrison and daugh ter, Mary spent several days visit ing in O’Neill during the holidays. Mrs. A. L. Borg and daughters, Laverne and Helen called at Frank Griffieth’s Christmas after noon. Dinner guests at the Will Kaczor home on Christmas were Mr. and Mrs. Harry Fox, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Fox and children, Virginia Rousch, Mr. and Mrs. William Hubby and Charles Kaczon. Dan Hansen had the misfortune to have his tractor tip over with him one day last week, he escaped without serious injury, but one foot was hurt. Cecil Griffith is spending the week with home folks. Mrs. Howard Rouse and sons, Lawrence and Lloyd, Miss Maude Rouse, Mrs. A. L. Borg and daugh ter, Laverne called at the Eric Borg home Saturday afternoon. Russel Graham spent Saturday afternoon with Lloyd Rouse. Mr. and Mrs. George Hansen called at the Eric Borg home Sat urday afternoon. Dinner guests at the Frank Griffith home on Christmas, were Miss Maude Rouse, of O’Neill, Arthur Rouse, Mr. and1 Mrs. How ard Rouse and sons, . Lawrence, Lloyd and Delbert, Miss Lucille Jones and Roy Spindle. Guests at Sam Robertson’s for a Christmas supper were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Walters and children, Mr. and Mrs. George Nelson and children, Mrs. Christina Walters and Clint McMiller. Dinner guests at Mrs. Ella Hull on Christmas were Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Hull, Mr. and Mrs. Levi Hull, Mr. and Mrs. Loyal Hull and children, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Nel son and Margaretha, Mr. and Mrs. Preston Jones and family, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Mellor and family, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Hull and family, of Sioux City came in the after noon. Mr. and Mrs. Mariedy Hubby and Bonnie and Bruce, of Atkin son, and Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Hub by were dinner guests at the Eric Borg home on Christmas day. Horace Rouse spent Tuesday j afternoon at the Rouse Bros. home, i Harry Fox had the misfortune I to hurt his hand quite badly a few flays ago. Miss Maude Rouse who spent the week-end at the home of her brothers, Arthur and Howard re turned home Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Hubby were supper guests at the home of her mother, Mrs. Albert Kaczon on ■ Christmas eve. All of John A. Robertson’s ! children were home to celebrate on | Monday except John, who lives in Chicago and James, who lives I in Sioux City, Iowa. Mrs. Christina Walters, Mr. and I Mrs. Henry Walters, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Robertson and Mrs. George Nelson attended the Golden Wed jding of Mr. and Mrs. Duffy, about 20 miles south of Long Pine, on Saturday. The couple are old friends of the Walters family. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Nelson and j baby, Naomi were guests at the Hendrix home at Atkinson on I Christmas day. Rev. and Mrs. Charles Slovens j and children, of Archer visited ir. ithis vicinity this week and were over night guests at Eric Borg’s on Tuesday night and dinner guests at Frank Griffith’s on Wednesday. | also called at several other places. Rev. Stevens was pastor here a few I years ago for some time and has manv friends throughout this com , munity. EMMET ITEMS Mrs. Emma Conrad and baby daughter, Judith Ann returned from O’Neill Saturday night. Doris Patterson, of Wayne came Saturday to visit at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Patterson over Christmas. Merlin Luben, and Joe E. Brown of Clearwater came Saturday af ternoon to visit at the home of Merlin’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Luben over Christmas. Rev. Warren L. Green left Sun day night for Minneapolis, Minn., where he will visit friends during Christmas vacation. Mr. and Mrs. Dever Fox and family drove to Harvard and Mil ler, Nebraska, Friday where they visited relatives over Christmas. The Epworth League held a party in the basement of the M. E. church Thursday night. Before the party they went carolling. After they returned to the church games were played and a delicious lunch was served, consisting of sandwiches, pie, pickles end cocoa. A very enjoyable time was had by all. A very interesting program was held in the primary room, taught by Miss Geraldine Harris, Friday afternoon. After the program Santa Claus came. Gifts and treats were distributed among the children. Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Dailey and son, Arthur, were guests at the home of Mr. Dailey’s sister, Mrs. P. J. Biglin, of O’Neill, for Christ mas dinner. Donald Luben returneu irom Dewey Schaffer’s Friday to spend Christmas at the home of his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Luben. The eighth and tenth grade pup ils of the Emmet schools held a Christmas party for the seventh and ninth grade pupils at the home of Francis Luben Tuesday night. Gifts were exchanged among the pupils. Guests were Miss Sadie Lowery and the Misses Marjorie and Lorine Mains and Miss Max ine O’Connell. A delicious lunch, consisting of sandwiches, cake and cocoa was served. Miss Phyllis Brown, of Atkin son, was an overnight guest of Miss Dorothy Fox last Thursday night. Mr. and Mrs. Sherm Allen, of Spencer, and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Wolfe, of O’Neill, were dinner guests at the Clyde Allen home on Christmas. Arthur Dailey, who is attending Creighton University, arrived in Emmet Wednesday night where he spent his Christmas vacation at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Dailey. Mr. and Mrs. Eli McConnell and children, of Atkinson, and Mr. and Mrs. Howard McConnell and child ren and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Puckett and children were guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alex McConnell for Christmas. The Emmet Bridge Club met at the home .of Mrs. Frank Foreman Thursday evening. High score was won by Mrs. W. P. Daily, low score by Miss Maxine McConnell, cut by Mrs. Harold Givens and traveling by Mrs. Margaret Bon enberger. Gifts were exchanged among the members, and a de licious lunch was served. Rev. Green and Mrs. Clara M. Cole were dinner guests at the Homer Lowrey home Christmas day. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Gaffney were dinner guests at the Pat Mc Ginnis home Christmas day% Les Perry returned to Hartington Tuesday, where he will visit rela tives. Mrs. Barbara Winkler, who has been ill for the past two weeks, has been removed to the home of hef son, Joe Winkler. Mrs. George Pongratz has been confined to her bed on account of an infection on the face. The Schultz family, of Atkinson, visited at the Charles Abart home on Christmas day. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mains and daughters, Marjorie and Lorine, visited relatives in Stuart on Christmas day. Mr. and Mrs. John Bonenberger and son, Duane, visited at the home | of Mr. and Mrs. John Cox, of O’Neill on Christmas day. Clarence Shaw spent Christmas at the home of his sister near ! Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Jensen, of Worthington, Minn., and Rex Luth, of Bonetsteel, S. D., visited at the home of their father, Henry Luth Thursday night. Mrs. Esther Harris and child ren, of O’Neill, were guests at the Guy Cole home on Christmas night, j INMAN NEWS Vere Butler, who is employed at Blair, Nebraska, was home to spend Christmas with his parents, Mr, and Mrs. A. N. Butler. R. G. Goree was here from Long Pine, Monday evening visiting his mother, Mrs. Mary A. Goree. Marjorie Rouse, Doris Stevens, Wilma Chicken and Eunice Chu domelka students at the Wayne State Normal are home for the holidays. Rev. E. B. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Roper, of Indianapolis, Indiana and Miss Lois Moor, of North Bend, Ne braska were here to spend the holidays with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Mor. Robert Jackson was here from Sioux City, Iowa, visiting among friends over Christmas. Mrs. Anna B. Pierson, of Lincoln is a holiday guest here at the home of her daughter, Mrs. I. L. Watson and family. Dr. and Mrs. Charles Tompkins arrived here from Detroit, Michi gan, Saturday night for a visit at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. R. Tompkins. Dr. Tomp kins is leaving Detroit and will locate in Omaha. R. J. Clapp spent the Christmas week-end in Omaha. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Tompkins were here from Albion to spend Christmas at the home of his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. L. R. Tompkins. Mr. and Mrs. Max Michaud, of Langley Prairie, British Columbia arrived at the home of his sister, Mrs. George Coventry and family. Mr. and Mrs. C. P. Hancock and sons, Robert, Wayne and Marlin were here from Tecamah, Nebraska visiting his mother, Mrs. Mary Hancock during the Christmas sea son. They also visited relatives at O’Neill. Mrs. Mary A. Goree and grand son, Jack Lewis drove to Grand Is land Sunday to spend Christmas with Mrs. Goree’s cousins. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Noe were here from Orchard to spend Christ mas with her parents, W. H. Chick en. The grades of the Inman schools presented an operetta, “In Santa’s Court," at the Auditorium, Thurs day evening. After which Santa himself made his appearance with treats for all the children. Gerald Sohotka, a student at the University of Nebraska was home to spend the holidays with his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. John Sobotka Jr. Donald Moore, who is also a stu dent at the University of Nebraska is home visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Moore. Mr. and Mrs. Pearl Carey and son, Laddie were guests at Christ mas dinner at the L. Kopecky home Sunday evening. The members of the I. W. Exten sion club held a party at the home of Mrs. Donald Starr Wednesday evening. A period was spent in singing Christmas Carols led by Mrs. James Cronk after which Chinese checkers were enjoyed by the group. This was followed by by the annual gift exchange. Lunch was served at the close of the even iriK Mrs. Mary M. Hancock and Miss Gladys spent Christmas at the home of Judge and Mrs. C. J. Ma lone in O’Neill.
