Omaha last Sunday night for a
few days visit with relatives and
friends.
William Riley, 19, was sentenced
to from one to five years in prison,
in Omaha last Saturday, for steal
ing seven cents.

Hastings came up last Saturday
and were here over Sunday visiting
thhe home folks.

from Mitchell, S. D., last Sunday
morning and spent the day visiting
with the home folks.
Miss Ilene Grutsch and Dorothy
Ott, teacher at the Joy schoolhouse
will held a program and pie social
at their school Wednesday, Dec. 22.
Holt county receive $L,085.44 gas
taxes for the month of November,
1937. The gas tax collections for
the state were $27,565,83 less for
the month of November than they
were for the month of October.
H. L. Lindberg and Arlo Hiatt
returned last Thursday night from
Omaha where they had been at-\
tending the annual convention of T
the Nebraska Independent Oil deal
ers. The boys report having had a
very intresting meeting.
C. F. W. Lehmann of the Cham
bers valley, was in the city Mon
day and made this office a short
call extending his subscription to
this household necessity. Mr. Leh
mann has been a resident of the
south country for about fifty years 'I
and has been prosperous, but who >
would not be, living in one of the
garden spots of the country.
