Mr. and Mrs. John Conard and daughter, Mary Lou and Miss Helen Anspach of Emmet, and Mr. and Mrs. Hardin Anspach and fam ily were guests at the John An spach home Sunday. Mr. Pettinger of Omaha, was here several days last week audit ing for the Watson Hay company. Mrs. Dallas Gizord and daughter, Mary Joan, were here from Wayne a few days last week visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Baker. W. ^Vr. Watson returned to his home in Lincoln Thursday after visiting here for about ten days with his sons, E. L. and I. L. Wat son and families. Chas. M. Fowler went to Norfolk last week for a visit with his son, Henry and family. Miss Dolores Young, who has been employed in Hartes beer par lor, has gone to Ewing where she will have charge of a beauty parlor. Mr. and Mrs. Beryl Conger and son, Dean, were here from Atkin son Wednesday, visiting among relatives. I. L. Watson made a business trip to Norfolk Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Stark and daughter, Neva, are visiting rela tives in Stanton a few days this week. Mr. and Mrs. L. R. Tompkins re turned Sunday from a ten day visit in southern Nebraska. At Wilcox, Nebr., they visited Mr. and Mrs. Fred Romig and George Keefer. They also visited their son, Harvey, ^rho is employed on a government soil project in the southern part of Nebraska, Kansas and Colorado, with headquarters at Colorado Springs. Mr. and Mrs. Fay Brittell and Lloyd Brittell and son, Pat, drove to Chambers Sunday evening to visit relatives. Miss Gertrude Young, who has been Sioux City for several months, arrived home Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. L. R. Tompkins re ceived word that their son, Dr. C. A. Tompkins, who has been associ ated with the Riley hospital in Indianapolis, Ind., for the past three years, was leaving for De troit, Mich., to accept a position in the Henry Ford hospital as one of the assistant resident doctors of Pediactics. He will start his new work there July 1, Mr. and Mrs. L. R. Tompkins visited at the home of his brother, L. C. Tompkins, at Albion last week. PLEASANT DALE A baby girl was born to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kasda, Jr., Saturday, June 19. Mrs. Kasda is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Young. Mr. and Mrs. Leon Beckwith spent Thursday evening at the Sewell Johnson home. Mary Alice Judge is visiting her grandmother, Mrs. Menish, in O’Neill this week. Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Fred and Clyde Beckwith re turned (home Saturday from a weeks vacationing in the Black Hills. Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Johnson and little daughter visited relatives in Chambers Tuesday evening. RESOLUTION WHEREAS, there has been appropriated by the National Congress by an amendment to the original Federal Aid High way Act of July 11, 1916, and approved June 16, 1936 a certain sum of money for the express purpose of constructing and im proving secondary or feeder roads within the various states, dis tricts, and territories, and WHEREAS there has been ap propriated by the 1937 Nebraska Legislature by L. B. Nos. 70 and 158 an amount equal to that ap propriated by the Federal Gov ernment for the express purpose of matching the said funds ap propriated by the Federal Gov ernment for construction and im provement of secondary or feed er roads, and WHEREAS, there exists in the County of Holt a road de scribed as Feeder Roads THEREFORE, be it resolved by Board of County Supervisors ! that the Department of Roads and Irrigation be requsted to improve said road or portion i thereof from the funds above mentioned for that purpose, and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLV ED that Holt county will reim burse the state prior to the award of a contract for the construc tion of said road, for all expend itures incurred in making prelim inary surveys, preparation of preliminary plans and other necessary expenses, and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLV ED that Holt county will secure title to all right-of-way neces sary for and incidental to the construction of said road, all without cost to the state.
