Colman and family, of Neligh, were in O’Neill Sunday, visiting with relatives and friends. Mrs. R. R. Dickson went down to Omaha last week for a couple of weeks visit with relatives and friends. Pete Nelson, an old time resident of the eastern part of Boyd county, was looking after business matters | in this city last Tuesday. Judge Dickson went down to Om aha the latter part of the week and visited friends there for a few days, returning home Tuesday night. - Ronald Watson, of Amelia, and Miss Margaret Harshfield, of At kinson, were granted a marriage license in county court last Tues day. A large delegation of football lovers of this city contemplate go ing to Lincoln Saturday to see the Nebraska team take Pittsburg into camp. Mayor and Mrs. John Kersen brock and family drove to Osmond Sunday and spent the day visiting relatives and friends, returning home that evening. D. Abdouch came up from Om ahalast night to visit friends for a few days and incidently look after some business matters. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Enright went down to Omaha last Friday, returning to this city Wednesday evening. They were accompanied as far as Columbus by Mrs. M. J. Enright, who will remain there for a visit. Mrs. H. J. Birmingham, Mrs. W. J. Froelich, Mrs. Edward Campbell, Mrs. C. E. Stout and Mrs. F. J. Dishner drove to Omaha Sunday afternoon to spend a few days vis iting friends and shopping. They returned home Tuesday evening. Dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Zakezewski, northeast of this city, last Sunday were: Dr. and Mrs. French and family, of Page,; Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Dietsch, of O’Neill; Clar ence Vornhagan, of Fordyce, Nebr. Ice cream and cake was served in the afternoon. Work on the new postoftice build ing has progressed very rapidly the past two weeks. The brick work on the structure is nearly completed and they will be at work getting the roof on next week. If fair weather continues it will not be long until the building is en closed and they will be able to finish the building during the winter months. James Grahairl, for many years a resident of this county and at one time engaged in the general mercantile business at Emmet, was in the city last Saturday visiting his many old time friends in this ’ section. Jim is now a resident of Lincoln and is on the road for a Lincoln drug firm. He says that business has been fairly prosperous with him the past few years. R. R. Morrison left Sunday night for Rochester, Minn., where he will have the surgeons there again give him the once over. Bob, who suf fered a broken elbow when he fell upon the ice in front of his home last winter^ has been at Rochester a couple of times for treatment and he has been getting along nicely and his arm rapidly improving, but he thought it advisable for them to again examine it, hence the journey. Word reached here the first of the week that James Tuor, for many years an employee of the J. C. Penney store here but who was transferred to Grand Island last spring, had been made assist ant manager of the Grand Island store and entered upon his new duties on Monday of this w'eek. The many friends of Jimmy in this city extend congratulations and good wishes and wish him further pro motion in his chosen line of work. John Addison was in from the north country last Saturday. John returned a little over a week ago from Omaha, where he had been in a hospital for about three months. For a time he was in a serious con dition, but he recovered rapidly and Saturday he was feeling as chirp as he did twenty years ago, despite his advanced years. John is one of the real old timers in the old Min eola country, having lived in that section of the country for over half | a century and his many friends ! hope that he will be with them for many more years. Last Tuesday about noon Guy Young, of Opportunity, had the mis fortune to suffer a compound frac ture of the left arm. Mr. Young was cleaning the valve on a pump and for that purpose had the pump and pipe raised so he could get at it. In some manner the supports of the pump slipped and the pump fell on him with the above result. Dr. Brown attended the fracture and Mr. Young is getting along as well as could be expected, although he will be laid up for some time. (First publication Oct. 29, 1936.)
