Moore left last Sunday for Kearney, Nebr., on a business trip. He started from here with a car ; but was forced to abandon it at Neligh and complete the trip by train. He returned last night, com ing home on the Northwestern. PeteTodsen drove down to Grand Island last Sunday, taking down his father-in-law and mother-in law, Mr. and Mrs. Blain, who had been visiting at the Todsen home for the past two weeks. Pete says that he made the trip down there in three hours and came back the same evening. Pete says there is not as much snow in the vicinity of Grand Island as there is in this section of the state. L. A. Whaley and Dede Murphy, living northeast of this city, are becoming regular winter travelers. They have been in town three or four times the past week, coming in with a four horse team attached to a bob sled. Each time they come to town they take back with them mail and a few of the ne cessities of life for their neighbors, who have no sleds and therefore are unable to get to to\yn. Melvin Ruzicka, local manager of the Gamble Store, left last Sunday for North Platte, to attend a meet inging of the managers of the var ious Gamble stores in the state. He was accompanied by Thomas Slat tery, manager of the Gamble Ag ency at Atkinson and the managers of agencies at Ainsworth, Valen tine, Bassett and Plainview. This meeting will be attended by all the head officers of the organization from St. Paul and was to be held Monday and Tuesday. Ben and Pat Harty received a message this afternoon that their father, James Harty, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ray Moon at Galena, Illinois, this morning at the age of 92 years. Mr. Harty was a former resident of this city coming here in 1909 and returning to Shullsburg, Wis., his old home the following year. He had visited his sons here several times since then and was quite well known in this city. Along in 1879 Mr. Harty came to this county with a bunch of relatives from Wisconsin but only remained a short time, returning to Wis consin.
