BRIEFLY STATED Mr. and Mrs. John Dailey, ac scompanied by Miss Helen Sullivan, drove to Grand Island Monday to bring Joseph Sullivan to this city to attend the funeral of his broth er, M. R. Sullivan. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Quaschnick, of Herried, S. D., were here Sunday, to attend the funeral of Mrs. Qua schnick’s sister, Mrs. J. 0. Ballen tyne, and to visit at the A.E. Riggs and Fred Bredehoft homes. J. F. Cox and daughter, Mar guerite and Mrs. Harry Sisco and son, Vernon, returned to Wymore Tuesday morning, after spending a few days with relatives here. Mrs. Cox remained for a longer visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Carter. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Gallagher and Monsignor O’Laughlin, of Lin coln, came up last Sunday after noon for a few days visit with rel atives and friends and to enjoy a few days in the fields after the elusive pheasant. They returned home Wednesday morning. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Keenan and children and Pete Sullivan, of Lincoln, came up last Saturday afternoon, the former for a visit at the home of Mrs. Keenan’s sis ter, Mrs. John Kersenbrock and Mr. Sullivan for a visit with rel atives and old friends northeast of this city. Frank Clark and son, Frank, Jr., of Buffalo, S. D., arrived in the city Monday night to attend the funeral of his brother-in-law, M. R. Sullivan. It has been eleven years since Frank made a visit to this city and he says that the town, where at one time he knew every one, seems now to be filled mostly with strangers. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Dornbeck and Mr. and Mrs. John Kline, of Lincoln, came up last Saturday afternoon. Governor Cochran issued a call the first of the week for a special session of the Nebraska lagisla ture, to convene in the city of Lin coln at 10 o’clock a. m., on October 28, next Monday. From the numb er of matters specified- in the call, to be handled by the special session, the membership will be lucky if they are able to complete their work by Christmas. W. H. Mclnerney, Jack Sullivan and Mrs. J. A. Devine left this morning for their western homes, after a weeks visit with relatives and friends here. Mr. Mclnerney and Mrs. Devine are resident of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Montana Jack will accompany them as far as Crawford and ,he will there take the train for his home at Butte, Mont. Mrs. Mclnerney remained here for a more protracted visit at the home of her mother, Mrs. Ellen O’Donnell. Elsie Osborne has filed suit in the district court asking for a de cree of divorce from William S. Osborne. In her petition she al leges that they were married at Bartlett, Nebr., on November 29, 1932, and that they w^re then and are now residents of Holt county. She alleges cruel and inhuman treatment on the part of her hus band and she asks the custody of their son, Lonnie Lee, two years old, and such other relief as the court may deem equitable. A gentleman from another state was in O’Neill the first of the week looking for a suitable store build ing, as he desired to engage in business in this city. After visit ing the city for several dhys he^ said he was convinced that this was one of the best business towns in this section of the state and he was desirous of engaging in busi ness here.
