John Steinhauser, John Sullivan and Sheriff Duffy left Wednesday morning for a short business trip to Lincoln. P. E. Marcellus, Business man of Stuart and O’Neill, was looking after his business affairs in this city Wednesday. The Townsend old age pension plan won’t help the ladies much. Few of them will ever admit get ting old enough to qualify. We know a woman who has a little boy who rambles continually when he talks. She is afraid he will grow up to be a radio announcer. Who can remember when it rained in Holt county on two different days in the month of February, like it has did this year? S. J. If O’Neill could get Fourth street paved from Adams street to the depots this season; a new fed eral building and a new court house for Holt county this year 1935 would not be so bad. Mary Lois Hammond, of O’Neill, a student at the Wayne State Teachers College, was elected gen eral secretary of the college New man Club at a semester meeting for the purpose of electing officers. Some youngsters seem to go to the university and finishing school to learn to be ashamed of the par ents who dug up the money to make it possible for the youngsters to go to the university and finish ing school. Nancy Froelich celebrated her fourth birthday last Tuesday and 26 of her little playmates were present to help here celebrate the event in the proper manner. It is needless to say that the little folks had an enjoyable time. M. H. Horiskey, P. C. Donohoe, M. H. McCarthy and “Cheese” Con klin went up to Dewey Lake last Monday morning on a fishing trip. The boys returned home Tuesday night with a nice string of beauties. Fishing is said to be much better this winter in the lakes west of us than it has tyeen for three or four summers. There is a great lack of residence houses in this city. Scarcely a day passes but what some person calls in this office in quest of a house to rent, but there seem to be none available. If some of our capital ists would invest a portion of their surplus in a good apartment house we think they would get splendid returns on their investment. 1 West End 1 | Filling Station jj p Phillip’s ’86’ Gasoline 1 fl Motor Oils & Greases | I: Will Appreciate Your :: Patronage fj SWITZER & FLOOD I Managers j| !---- i LIVER—Fresh Pork Q9n 2 pounds Z<Jb BACON— Cellophane Wrapped 19** I12-1.h.
