above named defendants, the ob
ject and prayer of which are to
foreclose a certain mortgage for
$4,500.00 on the SE'i of Sec. 1,
Twp. 29, R. 10 West of the fith
P. M., which was executed on No
vember 25, 1924, by John A. Dav
enport, as mortgagor, to W. M.
Rainbolt, as mortgagee, which was
recorded in Book 138 of the Mort
gage Records of Holt county, Ne
braska, at Page 225, and was given
to secure the payment of a certain
promissory note executed Novem
ber 25, 1924, which note and mort
gage have been duly assigned to
plaintiff, and to quiet title to said
property.
Plaintiff alleges that defendant
Lavina A. Sawyer and her husband,
Frank H. Sawyer, now deceased,
assumed and agreed to pay said
mortgage, and that there is now
due on said indebtedness the sum
of $4,027.00, plus interest.
Plaintiff prays that in default of
payment by said defendants, or
some of them, of the amount due
the plaintiff as aforesaid, said
mortgaged premises be decreed to
be sold according to law to satisfy
the sums found due, with interest
and costs of suit, and that said
defendants and all persons claim
ing by, through or under them, or
any of them, be excluded from and
foreclosed of any and all interest,
right, title and equity of redemp
tion in or lien upon said mortgaged
premises, and that title therein be
quieted.
You, and each of you, are re
quired to answer said Petition on
or before the 11th day of March,
1985.

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Warner and

last Sunday for a few days visit
with relatives and friends here.
Jack Sneed, engineer on the Bur
lington, who has been on the south
ern run for several months is back
again on the Sioux City-O’Neill
line.
Mr. and Mrs. John S. Johnson
and son, Charles, of Plainview,
visited here last “Sunday at the
horn* of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas
Edwards.
Mrs. Amanda Pace, mother of
Mrs. J. L. Quig, left last Tuesday
morning for Kansas City where she
will spend several weeks visiting
relatives.
Mrs. J. F. O'Donnell returned
Wednesday night from Omaha,
where she had been visiting at the
home of her daughter for the past
ten days.
Mrs. Frances Nelson, who has
been ailing for several months, was
taken to the University hospital at
Omaha last Saturday for medical
treatment.
H. E. Coyne went down to Om
aha last Monday to attend the an
nual convention of the Nebraska

Leslie Van Every took passage
Monday night on Northwestern
passenger train No. 15, for Gordon,
north of which town he has a job
on a cattle ranch.
Mr. and Mrs. James Van Every
and son, Leslie, of near Oportunity,
attended to business here Monday,
and visited at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. George Van Every.
Forest Smith, of Arcadia, form
erly of this city, was in the city
the end of the week purchasing hay
to haul to Valley county to dispose
of to farmers in that section.
R. L. Jordan returned last Fri
day from Norfolk, where he had
spent the week attending confer
ences with officials of the North
western Bell Telephone company.
Carl Holz and Gus Daniels, two
of the energetic and hustling farm
ers and stockmen of Deloit town
ship, were in O’Neill last Friday
and favored this office with a
pleasant call.
Miss Genevieve and Ambrose
Biglin drove to Sioux City last
Sunday, taking their sister, Sister
Colista there to take a train for
Chicago. They returned home
Monday afternoon.
Frank DeSeive and Miss Iva L.
Freese, both of Atkinson, appeared
in county court last Monday, se
cured a marriage licene and were
united in marriage by County
Judge C. J. Malone.
Fire in the roof next to the
chimney brought the fire depart
ment to the residence of Mrs. Ernest
Henry last Saturday morning. The
fire was put out without much
damage to the building.
The Edgar Fuhrer family is mov
ing today to a farm in the Elkhorn
valley four miles east and a mile
south of O’Neill. Butte friends
will wish them well in their new
