WHAT A
VETERINARIAN
TOLD US ABOUT
FARM ANIMALS
AND THE
TELEPHONE
"I
I receive many urgent calls when farm animals be
come sick/’ a veterinarian told us. "Some of these calls
come at night.
"When a horse is overheated, or cows are bloated from
overeating, the difference of an hour or so in summoning the
veterinarian may
mean the saving of
valuable live stock,"
he said.
"And after pre
scribing in such
cases, I find the tele
phone of additional
value in keeping in

is over."

STITCH IN TIME CLUB
The Grattan Stitch In Time Club
met on Wednesday afternoon, June 8,
at the home of Nona Bressler. Hazel
Bredehoft, the new' president called
the meeting to order. The constitu
tion of the club was read by the sec
retary, and signed by the members.
Mona Melvin, the assistant leader,
took charge of the meeting in the
absence of Eva Friesen, who had
company and could not come. The
problem discussed was closet conveni
ences, and each girl answered roll call
by telling what closet conveniences
she had made for her closet. Some of
the girls had made wire hangers, one
a shoe shelf, one a shoe bag, and one
brought her shoe rack to show to the
club.
Muriel Brittel and Opal Ellison were
to give a demonstration of the various
closet conveniences, and in prepara
tion had made a doll’s closet Out of a
shoe box, hanging doll’s dresses on
the tiny hangers, a doll’s shoe bag on
the door, and a hat shelf with a doll’s
hat in the box.
After the meeting, the girls went to
the tourist park for a picnic lunch.
The next meeting of the club will be
held at the home of Mona Melvin, at
2:30, Wednesday, June 22.

thereto. The jury in this case found
for the defendant and assessed his
recovery at the two notes and costs
of suit. It is from this that the plain
tiff is appealing.
