week while he was in Sioux City.
Robt. Moore and family, of near
Pierce were in our vicinity Sunday
and Clara Naber accompanied them
home.
Wm. Evans and son Arthur visit
ed Albert Klingler, Monday after
noon; Arthur was in O’Neill, Satur
day on business.
On Friday evening relatives and
friends sprang a surprise on Mr. and
Mrs. C. A. Strong, at their* home.
A delicious luncheon was served.
Funeral services were held Mon
day afternoon for the infant son of
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Johnson, at the
home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Wm. Grothe, Sr., near Emmet.
On Friday night folks enjoyed a
dance at the Peterson home; another
dance at the Guy Alton home Satur
day night when the young folks en
joyed themselves while the older
folks visited. Luncheon was served.
On Friday evening friends of Mr.
and Mrs. August Brinkman gathered
at their home to let them know they
remembered their 16th anniversary,
so they celebrated it with games.
Luncheon was served and a good
time enjoyed.
Mr. and Mrs. B. II. Bessey, Mr.
and Mrs, Melvin Klingler and Mr.
and Mrs. Herman Klingler were din
ner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Herman
Klingler, in O’Neill, Sunday. In the
afternoon Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Strong
and son Eugene, also John Sholtz
joined them for a visit. Ice cream and
cake were served for luncheon.

ervisors of Boyd county and the
board of supervisors of Holt county
in joint session assembled at Butte,
Nebraska, this 4th day of February,
1931, that we hereby request the
Division Engineer, W. H| Bauman,
to have a preliminary survey made
to ascertain the probable cost of the
necessary re-rapping to be done at
the Parshall Bridge south of Butte,
Nebraska, and the construction of 1
mile of road on each side of said
bridge.

ing the following resolutions were
presented and read:
WHEREAS, Highway numbered
Thirteen is a designated State-Fed
eial Highway which, with its con
nections, extends from the north line
of (he state to the south line, and is
a part of the transcontinental high
way known as the Canada to Canal
Highway, and
WHEREAS, about fourteen miles
of said highway has been construct
ed in Holt County south of O’Neill,
leaving unfinished eight miles on the
south of the present grade and about
four miles on the north—the north
part however being temporarily grad
ed, and
WHEREAS, the only outlet to the
south from this territory is now the
highway running south from Neligh
through Elgin, fifty-five miles east,
and the temporary highway running
south from Bassett to Taylor—53
miles west, and
WHEREAS, the people in this ter
ritory need an outlet to the south part
of the state without the necessity of
traveling to the east or west and re
turning, and
WHEREAS, it appears from the
daily press that there will be avail
able this year additional Federal
Road monies for the construction of
Federal-State roads,
Now, therefore, I move you that
we urge upon Governor Charles W.
Bryan and his Secretary of the De
partment of Public Works, R. E.
Cochran, the completion of Highway
numbered Thirteen in Holt County
south of the present construction
this coming year.

tinental highway running from the
east coast of the United States to the
west coast thereof, and one of the
designated transcontinental h i g h -
ways of the United States govern
ment, and
WHEREAS, said highway runs be
tween Atkinson and Stuart, in Holt
County, and has never been built or
constructed between these points,
only temporary construction being
installed, and
WHEREAS, said temporary con
struction has been in use for about 5
years and is becoming worn out and
is rough and in poor condition for
travel at all times, and
WHEREAS, it appears from the
daily press that there will be avail
able this year additional monies ap
propriated by the Federal Govern
ment for the construction of State
Federal roads.
Now, therefore, I move you that
we urge upon Governor Charles W.
Bryan and his Secretary of the De
partment of Public Works, the con
struction of Highway Twenty be
tween Atkinson and Stuart, or so
much thereof as can be constructed,
this year.

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, State Highway num
bered Fifty-Four is laid out and runs
from Atkinson, Holt County to Bur
well in Garfield County where the
same connects with other highways
leading to the southern part of the
state, and
WHEREAS, there has been con
structed in Holt County about 14%
miles of said highway, and in Gar
field County about 24 miles of said
highway, and
WHEREAS, there remains a gap
in said highway, not constructed, of
about 21 miles which is mostly in
this county and extends from the
south line of the present grade to the
county line on the south where the
same will, when built, connect with
the Garfield portion of said highway
which is now almost completed, and
WHEREAS, eight miles were con
structed on said highway last sum
mer which construction is surfaced
and is heavily travelled and should
be gravelled to preserve said high
way and the surface thereon and the
county and state’s investment there
in,
Now, therefore, I move you that
we urge upon Governor Charles W.
Bryan and the Secretary of his De
partment of Public Works, the grav
eling of the eight miles of new con
struction on said highway in Holt
County and ask that they do so this
spring and that they construct as
much new grade on said highway,
south of the present construction as
their funds will permit.

ly opened and read for Sand Gravel
Surfacing and incidental work on the
Deverre-Atkinson Project No. 639-A,
State Road.
The proposed work consists of con
structing 8.5 miles of graveled road.
The approximate quantities are:

Plans and specifications for the j
work may be seen and information
secured at the office of the County
Clerk at O’Neill, Nebraska or at the
office of the Department of Public
Works at Lincoln, Nebraska.
The successful bidder will be re
quired to furnish bond in an amount
equal to 100% of his contract.
As an evidence of good faith in
submitting a proposal for this work,
the bidder must file, with his propos- !
al, a certified check made payable to
the Department of Public Works and
in an amount not less than four hun
dred (400) dollars.

You are hereby notified that on the
20th day of February, 1931, the Pa
cific States Life Insurance Company,
by Boyle & Koenigstein, its attorneys,
filed its petition in the above entitled
cause setting forth the date of the
death of Hanne Hansen, deceased, as
having occurred on the 1st day of
November, 1922, and that at the time
of the death she was a bona fide resi
dent and inhabitant of Holt County,
Nebraska, and was the owner in fee
simple of the Southeast Quarter
(SEVi) of Section Fourteen (14),
Township Twenty-seven (27), Range
Fourteen (14), West of the 6th P. M.
in Holt County, Nebraska, and other
lands, and that your petitioner has
by mesne conveyances become the
owner in and to said described prem
ises and the interest and the title of
the deceased thereto.
That the prayer of the petition is
that said cause be set down for hear
ing; that at said hearing there may
be a determination of the death of
the said Hanne Hansen, deceased,
that she died intestate and of the
fact that she left no indebtedness and
that no claim whatever exists against
her estate, and also prays that there
may be a determination of the heir
ship of the said Hanne Hansen, de
ceased, and of the heirs of said Han
ne Hansen, deceased, and their re
spective degree of kinship, and right
of descent to the real property be
longing to said Hanne Hansen, de
