LOCAL NEWS.
In a recent letter from Mrs. Geo.
A. Longstaff, she told of the death
of her sister-in-law, Mrs. Martha
Bailey, known to most O’Neill people
as “Aunt Martha” who died in a hos
pital in Chicago last month. She hud
been ailing for several months but
was only in the hospital eight days.
Mr. Woody, representing a Kansas j
City book concern, is in O’Neill and
is arranging to file charges against
John Layng, who was arrested a few
days ago and is now in jail here
charged with misrepresentation and
fraud in conection with the sale of
books to rural school officers of the
county.
Mr, and Mrs. E. W. Sargent re-'
turned last week from u visit with
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Larson, at Mead,
Nebraska. Miss Gertrude Bedford,
who had been visiting her sister Mrs.
Ed Larson, for several weeks, accom
panied them home and is visiting her
sister, Mrs. Albert Kaczor and fam
ily, at Meek.
The ladies of the Methodist church
are arranging to hold a Bazaar and
six o'clock dinner on Saturday, De
cember 14th, in a down town build
ing. The Bazaar will be open all day;
luncheon will be served during the
day and a big six o’clock dinner will
be served in the evening. The public
is cordially invited.
IN APPRECIATION
The Ladies Guild desire to thank
those who assisted them in making
the recent home talent play, “Aunt
Lucia,” such a huge success. We want
to particularly thank those who took
part in the performance, those who
so kindly helped in supplying stage
settings and costumes, and to the
public in general who assured its
success by the purchase of tickets.
