XMAS GREETING CARDS. The line of Christmas Greeting cards received a few days ago are different than any we have had in the past. The scenes, in many instances recall our boyhood days. The manu facturers of the line of cards reside in the cast and of course their ideas are eastern in many respects. There are | puritan scenes as well as English; some are reproductions of famous paintings and aie very beautiful. O’NEILL HATCHERY. Poultry raisers of Holt county will be interested to know that O’Neill is to have a commercial hatchery. This county, with its ideal soil and climatic conditions is bound to become an im portant poultry center. O’Neill has been selectei as a hatchery site be cause of its shipping facilities, central location and extensive trade territory. This hatchery is one of a number throughout northeast Nebraska, with head offices at Norfolk. They are known as S and S hatcheries. The owners, who are all men of wide poultry experience, include S. W. Sch werin, for twenty years a breeder and exhibitor, who does all the flock cull ing and mating, insuring chix from Standard bred, egg producing par ents. Dr. John Schmela, graduate veterinarian, looks after flock sani tation. and tests for tuberculosis and bacillury white diarrhea. White Wy andotte raisers throughout this sec tion are already acquainted with Ralph N. Leidy, who will manage the O’Neill hatchery. The business will be primarily in day old chix but will also include 3 weeks old chix and custom hatching. The equipment will include the new electric storage brooders and 2 Buck eye Mammoth incubators of over 16, 000 egg capacity each. Poultry rais ers should make it a point to look over this equipment which will be in stalled in December. DONALD GALLAGHER RECOMMENDS THE FORI) The following letter tells the story; November 16th, 1929. Mr. J. B. Mellor, O’Neill, Nebraska. Dear J. B.: I recently purchased a new Ford Sedan and am so well pleased with it that I thought you might want to hear about it. After having driven comparatively high priced cars for a number of years I have no hesitancy in stating that the new Ford outclasses any car 1 have ever driven in ease of riding, economy and general performance. You are at liberty to use my name in recommending this car as I am really enthusiastic about its perform ance. Sincerely yours, DONNALD GALLAGHER. CELIA NEWS. There has been many interesting parties in this up-to-the-minute com munity. Surprise parties, house par ties, stork parties, birthday parties, political parties and a few others, but the last party was a little more than ordinary: “A hen party,” and no silk stockings either and roosters were taboo. That means excluded. The neighbors concluded to give a surprise on the newly weds, Mr. and Mrs. Henry, or “Hunk,” Gottchalk and Fri day evening was the night. It was decreed that each family should bring a real live hen full of squack, and good judgment was certainly shown in the choosing. Nearly as good as Hank showed, and those hens were except ional entertainers, when they were turned loose in the kitchen, was worth the column it takes to tell it. After the entertainment they were picked up and carried to the chicken house, giving the more sensible a chance to enjoy visiting with each other. A fine lunch was brought by the men which was greatly appreciated by the ladies. All were well pleased by the occasion and in departing wished the bride many happy returns of the day. 1 he weather has been threatening and cold for utmost a week, but now everything is lovely and sunshine and the prairie gold author has returned unto his wife which must be counted as a double blessing. He reports a fine visit with his son and family, and returned in a new Ford, driven up from Omaha by Seger Bros. f An announcement received from Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Ames, Loveland, Iowa, tells of the marriage of their youngest daughter, Florence, to J. E. VV ilkinson, of that place, November 20, 1928. Their former neighbors of this community wish them many joys, through life. Two loads of oats were hauled by the community truck, Thursday, for Chas. Smith, from the car shipped in by Graindealer Harley. ‘ ^ tl. V. Johnson and wife made a trip to Stuart Saturday and took dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Cosner. Announcements Invitations...
