Whereas, Mary Ratliff has made ap plication to Holt County for aid stat ing that she is without means and destitute through no cause of her own, and Whereas, it appears to this board that Mary Ratliff is a daughter of John Dobias and that the said John Dobias is of sufficient ability and means to support his said daughter. Maryy Ratliff, and. Whereas it further appears that the said Mary Ratliff does not fcuve any children of sufficient ubility to support or care for her, all of said children being smalt. WHEREAS, Tillie Wemke, has made application to Holt County for aid stating that she is writhout means and destitute through no fault of her own, and WHEREAS, it appears to this Board that Tillie Wemke is a daughtr of Joseph Ziska and that said Joseph Ziska is of sufficient ability and means to support his said daughter, Tillie Wemke, and WHEREAS, it further appears that the said Tillie Wemke does not have any children of sufficient ability to support or care for her, all of said children being small. We, your committee on settlemen' with County Officers beg lief to report that we have checked the quarterlj reports of the county officers and fine that the summaries thereto appendee are correct and the various suras re ported as fees have been turned in tc the Treasurer. We have checked the County Treas urer’s office and find that the various amounts reported by him as collected and disbursed corresppnd with his published statement, also the report: of the County Clerk on the special bridge and road funds placed in his hands also the fund for buying crow eggs have been checked and we find them correct as reported by him. Nebraska has, on the Niobrara res ervation, 80 buffalos and 100 elks. There arc* 879 buffalos and 586 elks on all federal reserves, more than half of which are in Montana. Three elks have recently been received at the ex periment station at North Platte. Nebraska has 85 Smith-Hughes high schools for the teaching of agricul ture or demostic science or both. Aid is furnished for such schools from the national government. Agriculture is taught in 51 schools and home eco nomics in 65. Nebraska shipped to the markets in 1927 approximately one beef, weighing 1100 pounds, one sheep, weighing 100 pounds and three hogs, weighing .‘>00 pounds, or something over a ton oi| live stock, per capita. Nebraska had the first rural postal route. The first government home stead of 160 acres was taken in Ne braska.
