aroused nation-wide interest because of their sensa
tional angles. Left: Mrs. Velma Van Woert West of
Palnesvllle, Ohio, holding the hammer with which,
it is alleged, she beat her husband to death. The
husband, Edward West, is shown in left upper inset.
Center: Andy Lyken, 15-year-old schoolbo” of St.
Clalrsvllle, Ohio, who shot and killed his mother and
seriously wounded his father and a farmhand because
he was reprimanded for not going to school. Upper
right: Mabel Marmont Hart of liurcka, Kansas, whe
was killed by her husband, Ivan Hart (right lower).
Hart claims his wife was Insane and communicated
that abnormal state of mind to him. He also asserts
she pleaded with him to end her life.
