So, too, does “listening in” on a party telephone line, while others are using it, weaken the conversation. The electric current on a telephone line car ries a conversation most effectively when only the receivers of the two persons talking are off the hooks. ^This is esp. dally true when longdistance calls are made. Practicing the golden rule on party tele . phone lines is essential to good service. Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. SAVIDGE PLEASING GOOD CROWDS The Walter Savidge Amusement Company arrived Sunday and is now playing its annual engagement in O’Neill. Since the company appeared here last year there have been quite a number of additions and changes in the entire company, among these arc the addition of two side shows, Millers’ Model City, a minature city in full action and the Pit Show which exhibits a varied showing of inter esting attractions. The concessions are a few more in number thi3 year and at e 1 ept up to the usual standard kept by this company. i no Daviaga flayers are the featured attraction as heretofore and the players are all new to our people with tne exception of Lysle Talbot, better known here as Lysle Hender son, who played the role of leading man with Clint and Bessie Robbins when they appeared here recently. The stage settings and scenery are beautiful and are the most artistic we have seen under canvas. The plays are produced under the direct ion of Truman De Roame, who also is the leading man. Miss Vera Temple is the leading lady this season. The opening play Monday night was “The Love Test” and was thoroughly enjoyed by the large audience which turned out to greet the players. We believe the special ties are just about the best Savidge has ever brought to O’Neill. These are presented at each performance by Wade and Talbot and Davis and Chapman. A change in the arrangement of the plays has been made sinae the advertisement in last week’s issue and will be as follows: Tuesday, “The Gutter Snipe;” Wednesday, “The Girl He Couldn’t Buy;” Thurs day, “Putting It Over;” Friday, “What Every Daughter Learns;” Saturday afternoon, the matinee, “In Wrong” and Saturday night, “The Marriage Gamble.” The band which is unusually good this year, is under the leadership of Prof. Ralph Baker, as is the orchestra which is equally good. Band con / certs are given at 10:30 a. m. and wt 6:45 p. m. The free act is a decided novelty, and is given by the Sallars Tria> *at 3:00 p. m, and 7:00 p. m. It is weii worth your time to watch these clevesr. performers. With weather conditions favorable during the remainder of the week, tfW v company will no doubt receive ite usual liberal patronage in O’Neill.
