Ladies Aid meets next time with Mrs. Frank Griffith on July 11th. Everybody welcome. Mrs. Geo. Baird became a member to our society last meeting. We now have a roll call of eighteen members. On the lawn at Marquette Saturday night was the most successful social and party held for some time. Every body enjoyed a swell time and our pro ceeds were $29.05 and 150 people pres ent. We thank the ladies who brought cakes and those who helped us serve. Marquette Sunday School children hell a picnic at Frank Griffith’s on Wednesday, this week, of which every one enjoyed themselves. ANDERSON-BENSON. (Ewing Advocate, June 22.) Wedding bells were ringing bright : and early Wednesday morning, an nouncing the marriage of Miss Char 1 lotte E. Benson to Mr. Carl E. Ander J son, of Chicago. *The wedding took j place at the Benson home in Ewing, ; Rev. Porter officiating, only the im mediate relatives witnessing the cere mony. The bride and groom, accom panied by Mrs. Benson, left the same morning for Chicago. “Lottie,” as she is familiarly known to all her friends here, grew to wo manhood in this vicinity, and she is so well and favorably known to everyone that is is needless for us to dwell upon her many accomplishments. After graduating from the Ewing schools and Monmouth College, she taught in the public schools here, also at Neligh, and her sunny disposition and charm ing personality at once made her a success in the school room. While the groom is a stranger to Ewing people, he is reputed to be a young man of many sterling qualities, and has achieved considerable success in the financial world, being! the owner of several drug stores in Chicago and other property interests. Misss Mae Keys departed Wednes day for Denver where she will visit | her brother Con. , Mrs. C. F. Wade arrived in O’Neill | last Sunday from Chicago, for a visit i with her father, S. F. McNichols, and many O’Neill friends. O’Neill relatives have received cards announcing the graduation of Harold Hammond from the Los Angeles high school. The exercises will take place thi§ evening. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Warner went to Sioux City last Friday, where they joined the Winchester party and arc spending the week in Chicago as guests of the Winchester Arms Co. Peter Reifer and wife, Walter Wy ant, Albert Strube, Chas. Wyant, Mr. and Mrs. William Britton departed Tuesday for Portland, Oregon, where some of the party may decide to lo cate. A farewell reception was tendered Father Duhaniel Wednesday evening at the K. C. Hall. Father Duhamel will leave Friday for Burke, South Dakota, for a few days visit with friends before going to Omaha where he will assist in St James Orphanage. The daily papers contained the an nouncement that Donald Gallagher, who has been in Lincoln for several day3, had made arrangements to enter the practice of law in Casper, Wyom ing, in an old established office. Mr. Gallagher represented this district in the last session of the legislature. While endeavoring to move a car from the street where he was grading, last Monday, young Ross backed the car into the auto occupied by Edward Gallagher which was standing still. Little Tommy Adbouch was standing on the running board of the Gallagher car and was badly pinched but not seriously injured when the cars came together. SUPERVISORS’ PROCEEDINGS. Mr. Chairman: I move you that the County Clerk be instructed to correct the tax lists for 1922, as regards the bank assessments in the county and make the levy on 25 per cent of the valuation instead of the total valua tion to conform to the recent decision of the Supreme Court of Nebraska. ANTON PRUSSA, Township Assessor. Mr. Chairman: In the matter of the valuation of SE*4 18-28-15 it ap pears that the valuation on said land was raised $1,410.00 from 1921 to 1922 through an error.
