owners of the land adjacent to the
proposed road, hereby petition your
honorable body to grant and establish
a public road, described as follows:

Nebraska, that the NiobfarA River is
cutting out the Stuart-Dustin*Badger
mail road; that said road is the main
traveled and only road from the west
end of the Holt County on the north
part thereof, leading to the Pars ha 11
bridge, that some action should be
taken to keep said river from washing
away all of said road; that the cost of
such repairs would be an unreasonable
burden on our townships, the cost of
which would ecxeed the amount rais
ed in one year by ordinary road taxes
in our townships.
Your Petitioners, therefore, pray for
an appropriation from the County
treasury to aid in the repairing as
aforesaid.

Larson, that Chairman appoint a com
mittee to investigate, straightening
out the Elkhorn river in Section 34
27-9 for the protection of bridges on
Federal Aid road No. 49.

poll tax, and that such assessment was
erroneous as he was a retired fireman
as evidenced by membership certifi
cate hereto attached.

able Body to grant him a refund of
$2.50, amount of such tax erroneously
paid.

W. C. T. U. NOTES.
The Woman’s Christian Temperance
Union will meet Tuesday afternoon,
April the 3rd, at 2:30 o’clock, with
Mrs. Eltha Bressler.
The Loyal Temperance Legion will
give a Medal Contest program soon
both in speaking and in singing.
The W. C. T. U. met with Mrs. Eltha
Sivesind March the 20th. Mrs. Jose
Havens, President of the Holt County
W. C. T. U. was present and gave a
very interesting report of the state
convention.
PRUNING DEMONSTRATION.
There will be a pruning demonstra
tion at the home of Mrs. Margaret
Brennan, in O’Neill, on Wednesday
afternoon, April 4th, at 2 o’clock. E.
H. Hoppert, Agricultural Extension
Service, University of Nebi’aska, will
be in charge of the demonstration.
He will take up the different methods
of pruning, systems of caring for
trees, and will also talk on the differ
ent sprays for orchards. Mr. Hop
pert has been in this work for the
University for a good many years,
and is well qualified to give all the up
to-date methods in this work. Every
body is cordially invited to attend this
pruning demonstration.
