Gertrude Wrede taught in the third grade and Hazel Ashton is now teaching in the fourth, fifth and sixth grades. The work is done under the direction and supervision of the nor mal training teacher, Miss Dixon, and also assistance is given by the teachers of the respective grades in which the work is done. The work so far, has been done very well and has been an enjoyment to the normal trainers. Fourth Grade—The fourth grade judged their sewing and clothes pin bag Wednesday and declared that Violet Rosier had the best clothes pin bag. There was a lie between Stella Van Every and Lola Smith on their sew i lg bags both bags being so well made Sixth Grade—Opal Breiner was ab sent Friday bn account of illness. This week our arithmetic class is learning to write checks and receipts. Amelia Merrell is again too ill to at tend school. Eighth Grade—Naomi Harnish visited the eighth grade Monday. In a mental arithmetic drill Tuesday Mildred Tomlinson, Harry DeLandj Edna Simonson and Florence Clevish each received 100 per cent. The class will take up the World War Thursday. The class is reviewing agriculture in liew of reading in preparation for the FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH. For language the class wrote a three act play from the Fable “Mer-, cury and Woodman.’ In a written test in language Grace Hancock and Evelyn Pinkerirmn each received 99 per cent. ' Mr. and Mrs. Win. Maring and Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Harris returned Tues day from Omaha whei*e they had spent a week with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Vanfleet, who have been the proprietors of the res taurant, expect to move to a farm on Eagle Creek as soon as the weather permits. However the town will not be without an eating house as two new ones will sta#t immediately. Mr. and Mrs. L. T. Deeder will open one in the hotel building and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Strong, another in the building owned by Mrs. Strong’s father POPULATION INCREASE DURING THE NIGHT (Inman Leader.) The population of Stafford was in creased by the arrival of two boys last Wednesday evening. A nine pound boy arrived at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hutton and a ten pound boy at the home of Mr. and Mrs. M. W. Ketzenberger. The Hutton family are former residents of Inman and their many friends here are pleased to hear of the event. Mr. Hutton is station agent at Stafford and he is busy just now drawing up plans to have the railroad company build a second story on the depot in order to give the family more room to expand. The Depository bonds of First Na tional Bank, O’Neill; Farmers State Bank, Inman; and Emmet State Bank were approved. “Be it resolved that the County Board of Supervisors of Holt County, Nebraska, at this Regular meeting at the Court House in O’Neill, Nebraska, on this 27th day of February, 1923. hereby accept all of the provisions of the Federal and State Aid Road Acts, as provided in House Bill 7617 of the 64th Congress of the United States (39 Stat. 355), and House Roll 722 of the 1917 Session of the Nebraska Leg islature, approved April 19, 1917, and make application for State and Federal funds for Holt County, as ap portioned in said House Roll 722 to construct the following roads, begin ning: At South City limit of O’Neill, Nebraska, at the North % corner Sec tion 31, T. 29, N. R. 11 W., Thence south to South side of said Section, thence West to Section line between Section 6, T. 28, N. R. 11 W. and Sec tion 1, T. 28, N. R. 12 W. at northwest corner of Section 6, thence South to South County line of Holt County, thence east on County line to north east corner of Section 4, T. 24, N. R. 11 W. For and in consideration of the specified roads being constructed with Federal and State funds, the Board of County Supervisors of Holt County, Nebraska, hereby pledge the good faith and credit of the County of Holt, Nebraska, to furnish all of the right of way on the above designated roads, free of cost to the Federal Govern ment and State of Nebraska, to pro vide funds for, and to properly and continuously maintain the above Specified roads after the construction of same, as provided in the above mentioned acts. We plso pledge said County of Holt, Nebraska, to construct and maintain all bridges on the above sipecified roads where the clear water way ex ceeds thirty-Six (36) feet, and within thirty days after the above described roads have been completed we agree to designate same as County roads as provided in House Roll 212 passed by the 1917 Legislature of Nebraska.” JOHN SULLIVAN.
