running in a northwesterly direction

GATHER CROP FOR
CLEARWATER MAN
(Orchard News)
Neighbors with fifty teams and
wagons gathered at the Gene Work
man farm near Clearwater Wednesday
morning and before night had gather
ed his corn crop for him.
Mr. Workman recently lost the sight
of one of his eyes and was badly
.ounded in the hand by the accidental
discharge of a gun, which will prevent
his working most of the winter.
The women also helped by preparing
a feast at noon for the workers.

Announcement that Harvey M.
Johnston, son of Mrs. Emma Johnston
of Ewing is next year’s football cap
tain at Doane College, was made Sat
urday night at the All-Doane football
banquet. Mr. Johnston was also
awarded the Honor D in recogni
tion of his powers on the gridiron.
Mr. Johnston acted as captain that
afternoon when the Tiger eleven rather
surprised itself by defeating the team
of Hastings college, until then gener
ally victorious, by a score of 6 to 0, in
what the state university referees
were overheard to declare “the clean
est game they had ever seen.”
