SUPERVISORS’ PROCEEDINGS (Continued from page six.) Add., being the Old Chickery Factory property tin which they have a valua tion of $1,700. You Gentlemen know what this property sold for and I think that this valuation should be cut down to the value of ordinary farm prop erty. I have no protest to enter to any of the other valuations while I think that s: me of them are a little high com pared with other land but it is not worth bothering about. Yours truly, F. J. DISHNER. On motion SEti 35-29-11 was re duced $500.00. Honorable Board of Supervisors, of Holt county, Nebraska: Gentlemen: I respectfully, but most emphatically, protest against the valuation of $2,355.00 placed upon pt. N% E% of Section 15, Tp. 25, R. 13 W. (157) acres for the year 1920. This land is wholly unimproved and is perhaps, less valuable than any other tract in its locality. The unimproved lands in the locality in question belong ing to residents of Conley township are valued at $10.00 or less per acre while this tract is valued at $15.00 per acre. On May 20, 1918, the land in question was sold at public sale, after due legal notice had been given in the Chambers Sun, for the sum of $215.00 and since that time petitioner has frequently offered to sell same at less than eight ($8.00) per acre. Yours respectfully, JOHN A. HARMON. O’Neill, Nebr., June 24, 1920. On motion same was reduced $2,000. Atkinson, Nebr., June 22, 1920. To the Honorable Board of Equaliza tion: In 1916 my lands in Francis town ship viz: W% SW%, SE% SW% and SW% SE14 11-27-14 »was assessed at $1080, for 1920 same land is assessed at $4800. I desire to protest owing to the fact that lands of a similiar character joining are assessed at from $10 to $20 an acre less and of same value and ask your Honorable Body to give due consideration. Respectfully submitted, FIJED H. SWINGLEY. On motion same wajs denied. On motion protest W. R. Jonson was denied. Atkinson, Neb., June 18, 1920. The Board of Supervisors, Holt County: Gentlemen: In June, 1919, I bought the Southwest quarter of Section 8, Township 29, Range 15, paying there for $5,000. This year it is assessed at $7,800, which is an unjust assessment as it is assessed at the same price with other quarters in this section any one of which is worth $3,000 more than my quarter and I respectfully request your Honorable Body to equalize the as sessment of this land in accordance with the purchase price and the actual value of this quarter of land. CONRAD STRAKA. Subscribed in my presence and sworn to before me this 18th day of June, 1920. E. J. MACK, (Seal.) Notary Public. On motion same was reduced to $3,500. Dorsey, Neb., July 3, 1920. To the Honorable Board of Supervis ors, Hclt county, Nebraska: I find that my land in Steel Creek Twp. in Section 11-31-9, 125 acres, was assessed for $2,750, improvements just fair, about 50 acres in cultivation, balance pasture land. James Wiley joins me on the west. 160 acres with more level land and far better im provements only assessed at $2,800. D. D. Miles northwest of my place, 400 acres every foot of it good land, all level, and better improvements only assessed at $6,500. Land joins me on the north 154 ‘acres with good im provements and mostly all good till able land only assessed at $3,525. Ed. Alter joins me on the south 120 acres about such land as mine assessed at $1,950. I would like to have my land compared with the joining lands as I want to pay my just share of taxes. Respectfully yours, JOHN MOSER. On motion same was granted and re duced on a footing with other lands in that locality. On motion protest of W. W. Wilson was denied. Mr. Chairman and Gentlemen of the Board: Being appointed as a committee of one to investigate as to the relative values of certain property in Stuart village, would respectfully report the following: Being compared with similiar prop erty and their value, I would .consider the property of R. E. Chittick valued at least $1,000 too high, and would recommend that value be placed at $5,000.00 on same. A similiar com parison of the W. N. Coats property convinces me that this property is also valued too high as stated in his pro test regarding same And would res pectfully recommend that the value of same be placed at $3,300.00. — Respectfully submitted, J. V. JOHNSON. On motion same was accepted and reduction ordered accordingly. At 12 o’clock, noon, board adjourned until 1 o’clock p. m. F. C. WATSON, Chairman. E. F. PORTER, Clerk.
