This year it is assessed at $7,800 which is an unjust assess ment as it is assessed at the same price wtih other quarters in this sec tion any one of which is worth $3,000 more than my quarter, and I respect fully request your honorable body to equalize the assessment of this land in accordance with th6 purchase price and the actual value of this quarter of land. Keyes, John A. Robertson, W. B. Cooper and Henry Hookstra respectfully repre sent and show to your Honorable Body: 1. That we are a committee se lected at a mass meeting of land owners and taxpayers of Holt County, Nebraska, heretofore held in the city of O'Neill, and that they and each of them are real estate owners and tax payers in Holt County, Nebraska, and bring this suit for themselve and all other taxpayers and real estate own ers in Holt County, Nebraska, who are similarly effected and situated. 2. That no valid or legal assess ment has been made of the real estate situated within Holt County for the year 1920, and that no valid return has been made or filed by the various precinct assessors or any of them within Holt County. 3. That it is the duty of the pre cinct assessors under the law to upon actual view list, value and assess and return all property subject to taxa tion in their various townships, cities and villages, and that said duty and responsibility was not shared with them by any other officer, county or state or by any other board, but not withstanding said fact, and the law as made and provided, the State Board of Equalization acting by and through its Secretary by various communications addressed to the County Assessor and the precinct assessors, and by com munications which were caused to be directed by the County Assessor to the various precinct assessors un lawfully lead the said precinct asses sors to beiieve and be informed that the duty, and responsibility of asses sing the real estate of Holt County, Nebraska, and in the various town (Conintued on page five.) Anderson & Sons, Agents Atkinson, Nebraska { SAMPLE BALLOT Special Election, August 2, 1920 Shall the City of O’Neill, in Holt County, Ne braska, issue its bonds in the sum of Thirty-one Thousand Dollars, in denominations of One Thous and Dollars each, dated January 1, 1921, due in 0 Twenty years from their date, to draw interest at the rate of six per cent per annum payable annually; principal and interest payable at the fiscal agency of the State of Nebraska, in the City of New York; said bonds to be negotiable in form and to be desig nated as “O’Neill Water Bonds,” the said bonds to be redeemable at the option of said City at any time after five years from their date. Said bonds to be sold for the purpose of obtaining money with which to purchase and install the following materials for the purpose of maintaining and extending the water works system now owned and operated by the City of O’Neill, to-wit: 1. A water storage tank having a capacity of 150, 000 gallons. 2. Ten fire hydrants. 3. Two thousand feet of four-inch water main. 4. One thousand feet of eight-inch, cast-iron water main. 5. One iorty-horse power, kerosine and gasoline burning engine. 6. The necessary ground on which to install said water storage tank.
