“The Kaiser Will Never Dominate the World.”
Evangelist E. L. Cook.
“The German kaiser will never dominate the world, nor even
„ affairs in Europe. His ambitions will be blasted, because the Word
of God specifically declares that all his efforts to establish a universal
empire will come to naught. No matter how desperate may be the
efforts of the kaiser to subdue the nations fighting against him, yet he
will fail, just as rulers before him have failed, because the prophet
was shown that after the fall of the Roman Empire would come this
divided state,, which would continue until the day when Christ would
set up an everlasting kingdom.”
So declared Evangelist Cook, Tuesday night at the tent, in his
Biblical lecture on “The Crash of Empires, or the Kaiser Doomed in
His Ambitions to Establish a Universal Empire.”
Evangelist Cook, who for many years has been a close student of
the Bible prophecies relating to presentday events, based his remarks
on the second chapter of Daniel, which he said gives a comprehensive
record of the history of the world from the days of Babylon down to
the setting up of the fifth universal kingdom, of which Christ himself
will be the king. He continued:
- “Twenty-five centuries ago, Daniel the prophet, while in the
courts of Babylon holding the position of premier of that mighty
empire, interpreted a dream given to Nebuchadneezzar the king, which
portrayed the rise and fall of nations from the days of Babylon down
to the establishment of God’s everlasting kingdom. This is recorded
in the second chapter of Daniel. In this d"cam the king was shown
the image of a man, whose head was of gold, breasts and arms of
silver, sides of grass, legs of iron, and feet part of iron and part of
clay. Each division represented an empire: the head represented
Babylon, the breasts and arms Medo-Persia, the sides Grecia, the
legs Rome, while the toes represented the ten kingdoms of Western
Europe when Rome became divided. As iron and clay will not adhere
one to the other, neither will these nations be fused into one. Men
have attempted to unite them into great empires, Napoleon Bona part
being one of them.”
“Notice the significance of that part of the prophecy which says
that they would mingle themselves with the seed of men, that is, they
would intermarry. Is it not true that all the royal families of Europe
are related through ties of blood? Notable among these are the king
of England, the ex-czar of Russia, and the kaiser of Germany, who are
first cousins. ‘In the days of these kings,’ declares Daniel, ‘shall the
God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and
the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in
pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever.
We are rapidly approaching the tinle when this everlasting kingdom
will be established; and just as surely as the Word of God was ful
filled of old, and as it is being fulfilled by men and rulers today, just
so surely will his promise to ‘come again’ be fulfilled.”
