Ordinance No. 48A An ordinance known as the annual appropriation ordinance and appro priating the necessary funds to defray the expenses of the city of O’Neill, Nebraska, for the fiscal year beginning May 5,1914, and ending on the 4th day of May, 1915. Be it ordained by the mayor and City Council of the city of O’Neill, Ne braska, that there shall be apportion ed, out of the funds of said city of O’Neill for the following purposes and for the following amounts: Salaries of city officers.$ 2,000 Cost of running water power plant. 2,500 Lighting streets. 1,200 Railroad sinking fund. 2,500 Repairs on water works, and water works extension.... 5,000 Streets and sidewalks. 1,500 Interest on sewer bonds and re pairs on sewer. 2,000 Sewer bond sinking fund. 1,000 Total.$17,700 The entire revenue for the previous fiscal year was as follows: Balance on hand May 1, 1913.$ 670.33 Water rental. 2,867.68 Occupation tax. 5,000.00 County treasurer. 2,671.44 Pool hall license. 150.00 City scales. 136.05 Police judge. 25.00 Miscellaneous license and collections. 469.00 Total Receipts.$11,989.50 This ordinance shall take effect and be in force after its passage, approval and publication as required by law. 52-4 T. Mrs. Leslie Tompkins came up from Albion Monday to attend the funeral of her niece, Lula Miller, who died Sunday. Mrs. Walt Evans and children, of Des Moines, Iowa, came last Tuesday to visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Tavener. Miss Lula Wilcox went to Tilden last Monday, where she underwent an operation for appendicitis. Mrs. Ed. Loucks and son, Edward, came up from Norfolk last Sunday to attend the funeral of her niece, Lula Miller. Frank Coleman, jr., went to Norfolk Saturday to attend the funeral of Mr. Stafford. Miss Edna Gannon, who has spent the past year in Las Angeles, Cal., leturned home last Saturday to spend the summer. Miss Lyle E. Butler and Roy B. Mossman, both of Inman, were mar ried Thursday, June 25, at the home of the brides’ .parents, Mr. and Mrs. N. S. Butler. Miss Butler is one of Inman’s most charming young ladies while Mr. Mossman is an energetic and enterprising young man. Inman and community join in wishing them joy and prosperity. Lula Marie Miller, the year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Miller, died at her home last Sunday evening after a short illness of pneumonia and her funeral was held at the M. E. church on Tuesday, Rev. Benjamin Morton of Page officiating. The be reaved parents have the sympathy of their many friends. Rummell, of Omaha, was in stantly killed near Battle Creek, when an auto he was driving was struck by a passenger train. Rummell’s body and the wreckage of the car were car ried over three blocks on the pilot of the engine. A new theater erected by Louis Meyers has opened for business at Germantown. Chief of Police Welton, of Fremont, is looking for six youths who threw beer bottles and bricks through the windows of Mrs. Ollie Baldwin’s home. John L. Hubbard, 21 years old, liv ing near Fairbury, was seriously in jured when run over by a harvesting machine. He was severely cut by the sickle of the machine. Herman Bottger, by his father, Rudolph Bottger, of Emerson, has filed suit in the district court of Madison county to recover $25,000 damages ' from the Omaha Railroad company for the loss of a foot.
