the recent high water in Eagle creek,
caused by an unusual fall of rain lias
suddenly injured and damaged both
roadway and bridge on sect ion line
between sections 2 and 1! Township
32, Range 11, over and across Eagle
creek, Holt county, Nebraska, and
whereas said road cannot be traveled
without a bridge at that place, there
fore, in tiie opinion of this board an
emergency exit ts, and that the public
good requires the immediate action,
and to prevent any inconvenience and
damage, 1 move you that we proceed
to repair the same.
Therefore, notice Is hereby given to
ail persons interested, ot the intention
of said board of supervisors of Holt
county, Netiraska, to let a contract
for the repair of said bridge and the
approaches thereto and tlie damage
done thereto in the manner provided
by law.
Notice is further given that said

The Markets
South Omaha, October 30.—Special
market letter from Nye Schneider
Fowler Co.
It is hard to express on paper the
demoralized condition of our cattle
market. The general cause of course,
is well known to be the financial state
of affairs. The worst decline is on the
kinds that the packers buy and on
which there is no competition from
outsiders. They have certainly taken
advantage of this opportunity with a
vengeance. Canners that brought
$2 25 on Monday the 2ist brought less
than half that price on Monday the
28th and it has not improved any since
up to this writing. The decline is
anywfiere from 50c to $1 on almost
all grades. As is usual the choice ones
suffered the least owing to the very
light receipts of this kind. There
certainly is a world of money for the
farmer or feeder wtio can load up at
tfiese prices and run them over until
they are wanted. Some shippers are
reloading their crttle and taking them
hack home. These conditions are go
ing to result in a shutting off of ship
ments until we would not be surprised
to see practically nothing arriving by
tlie first of next week and no doubt
will bring a sharp advance in prices.
The hog market made a slump of
70c in four or live days but receipts
have been so extremely light since
then that the result lias been a slight
advance. Prices range from about
$5.40 to $5.60 today and we expect to
see them work a little higher as long
as these receipts continne light, but
anything like liberal receipts will
quickly bring them down again.
Sheep prices are also taking their
turn on the toboggan and are from
$1.25 to $2 00 lower than the high time
of the season with an extremely dull
market today. Surely the man who
buys his feeders now stands a lot bet
ter show than those who have been
buying during the past two or three
months.

wireless from the west end of the 15th
says J. A. Douglas has carried every
thing in sight but a It. It. pass. The
throne is tottering, get out from under.
The news of the death of Mrs. Chas.
Bigler was brought to this settlement
today (Monday) where Mrs Bigler has
lived for over twenty years. They
having left their farm near Ray post
offle and moved to O’Neill about a
year ago. The deceased had been a
partial invalid for the past eight years.
Her trials were many and she only
awaited the summons when Gud in
his mercy should call her to rest. Her
neighbors knew her as a God-fearing,
loving mother and extend their sym
pathy to the bereaved husband and
family.
