As yet the cost has barred progress, hut the canal would be of great value to commerce, and it Is expected to become a reality in time. Illustrating the strange power of the imagination, E. F. Benson, author of ‘•Dodo,” tells this incident: "A doctor he knew7 had found it necessary to r;ive a patient for many evenings an injec tion of morphia to enable him to got pome sleep.
