The O’Neill Bottling Works have
just put on the market a new non-in
toxicant drink called "Kronk.” It Is
really not a new product as it first
made its appearance in Pennsylvania
many years ago. It is now on sale by

Henry Losher,one of "Holts most sub
stantial farmers, living about twelve
miles north of O’Neill, left this morn
ing for a visit to his childhood home
in Indiana. He has not been there
for twenty-four years and says he ex
pects to witness many changes in that
section.
American Royal Live Stock Show at
Kansas City, Mo., October 6 to 13.
Great Northern railroad will sell
round trip excursion tickets at one first
class fare plus $2. Dates of sale Octo
ber 6 to 9 inclusive. Good returning
up to and including October 15. By
payipg 50 cents extra tickets may be
extended to October 31 for returning.
M. F. Harrington addressed a small
audience at the court-house last even
ing on the subjectof government own
ership of railroads. The meeting was
held, under the auspices of a local
club recently organized to promote
tbe^overnment ownership idea. Mr.
Harrington is fiatfooded for the gov
ernment taking over the railway pro
perties, notwithstanding Mr. Bryan’s
flopping back on the proposition.
Rev. A. Morris P. Abbott, the new
ly appointed pastor of the Methodist
church, wife and son arrived in the
city Tuesday to assume charge of the
congregation here. Rev. Mr. Abbott
will preach his first sermon the com
ing Sunday at 10:30, his subject being
“The Tenderness of Jesus.” He will
also preach in the evening at 8 o’clock
on “The Son of Righteousness.” At
3 o'clock in the afternoon he preaches
at Eden Valley.
Rqv. G. F. Mead and family depart
ed yesterday for South Sioux City, too
whtch place Mr. Mead has been ap
pointed Methodist pastor. They leave
a large circle of friends here who re
gret to have them go but whose best
wishes accompany them. Mr. Mead
made manyfriendsduringhis pastorate
here, not only among church goers,
but others as well, because of his cor
dial disposition and active interest in
the public welfare.
O. F. Biglin, who with Mrs. Biglin,
visited several weeks at Scranton, Pa.,
is home and says there is no place like
Nebraska. Mr. Biglin says that of the
great stretch of country between here
and the Atlantic seaboard no portion
looks as well as our own state. The
nourishing condition of Nebraska is
the talk of the traveling public, he
says, while most Nebraskans don’t ap
preciate whatthey huve. While they
enjoyed their eastern trip, Mr. Biglin
says he didn’t before realize the value
of Nebraska real estate and he pro
pases to get a good slice of it at the
earliest opportunity.

lines at a valuation of $50 per mile or
an assessment valuation of $10 per

company was assessed at a valuation of
$200 or an assessed valuation of $00 per

On motion the Ewing and Deloit
telephone company was assessed for 54
miles of line at a valuation of $20 per
mile or an assessed valuation of $4 per
mile.
On motion the Interstate telephone
company war assessed for 61 miles of
line at a valuation of $50 per mile or
an assessed valuation of $10 per mile.
On motion the Yerdigrie telephone
line was assessed for 524 miles of line
at a valuation of $35 per mile or an as
ssed valuation of $7 per mile.
On motion the Camp Dewey tele
phone company was assessed for 174
miles of line at a valuation of $40 per
mile or an assessed valuation of $8 per
mile.
On motion the Western Union tele
graph company was assessed for $3004
and the clerk was instructed to appor
tion the same to the various school
districts, townships and villages
through which the above telephone
and telegraph lines passes.

M. Gaylord and Sarah M. Gaylord his

four hundred fifteen dollars and 65
cents $415.65, and the costs taxed at

PROPOSED CONSTITUTIONAL
AMENDMENT.
The following proposed amendment
to the constitution of the state of Ne
braska, as hereinafter set forth in full,
is submitted to the electors of the
state of Nebraska, to be voted upon at
the general election to be held Tues
day, November 6, A. D. 1906.
Be it enacted by the legislature of
the state of Nebraska:
Section 1. That at the general elec
tion for state and legislative offices to
be held on the Tuesday succeeding the
i tirst Monday in November, 1906, the
following provision be proposed and
submitted to the electors of the state
as an amendment to the constitution.
Section 2. There shall be a state
railway commission consisting of three
members, who shall first be elected at
the general election in 1906, whose
terms of office, except those
chosen at the first election under
this provision, shall be six years, and
whose compensation shall be fixed by
the legislature.
Of the three commissioners first
elected, the one receiving the highest
number of votes shall hold his office
for six years, the next highest four
years, and the lowest two years.
The powers and duties of such com
mission shall include the regulation
of rates, service and general control of
common carriers as the legislature
may provide by law. But in the ab
sence of specific legislation, the com
mission shall exercise the powers and
perform the dutiesenumerated in this
provision.
Section 3. That at said election in
the year 1906, on the ballot of each
elector voting thereat, there shall be
printed or written the words, “For
Constitutional Amendment, with ref
erence to State Railway Commission”;
and, “Against Constitutional Amend
ment, with reference to State Railway
Commission.” And if a majority of
all votes cast at said election shall be
for such amendment, the same shall
be deemed to be adopted.
I, A. Galusha, secretary of state of
the state of Nebraska, do hereby
certify that the foregoing proposed
amendment to the constitution of the
state of Nebraska, is a true and cor
rect copy of the original enrolled and
engrossed bill, as passed by the twenty
ninth session of the legislature of the
state of Nebraska, as appears from
said original bill on file in this office,
and that said proposed amendment is
submitted to the qualified voters of
the state of Nebraska for their adopt
ion or rejection at the general election
to be held on Tuesday, the 6th day of
November, A. D. 1906.
In testimony whereof, I have here
unto set my hand and affixed the great
seal of the state of Nebraska.
Done at Lincoln this 24th day of
duly, in the year of our Lord one
thousand nine hundred and six, of the

To CHRISTIAN CHRISTENSEN:
You are hereby notified that on the
2d day of January, 1905, the following
described real estate situated in Holt
county, Nebraska, to-wit: ths south
west quarter of section eight, in town
ship twenty-eight, range twelve west
of the 6th P. M., was sold at private
tax sale by the treasurer of said coun
ty for the delinquent taxes due there
on for tiie year 1903, to John Lorge of
Randolph, Nebraska, who received a
certificate of tax sale therefor and
who is the present owner and holder
thereof.
In the year 1903 the said land was
taxed and especially assessed in the
name of C. Christensen.
The time of redemption from said
tax sale will expire on the 2d day of
January, 1907. Upon the expiration
of said time I will apply to the county
treasurer for a tax deed.
