PIANO CONTEST Announcement The Frontier and Nebraska Farmer of Lincoln have made arrangements to start a Piano, Cold Watch and Scholarship subscription contest to cover the whole of Holt county. A Bush & Certs piano, bought of C. W. Smith, will be given free to the girl or young lady residing in Holt county who receives the most votes during this contest, a fine gold Waltham watch, 15 jewel, 20-year case, bought of W. M. Lockard will be given free to the lady receiving the second largest num ber of votes, and one year's free scholarship good at the Wayne Normal to the one receiving the third largest number of votes. Contestants are desired from every part of this county. The voting will be on subscription money paid to The Frontier. VOTES—Votes will be given on all subscription money paid to The Frontier during the contest, and you my cast these votes for whoever you wish to see win a prize. If you pay $1.50 on old subscription we will issue a voting card for 600 votes. If you are not already taking The Frontier and pay $1.50 you will then be a new subscriber and 1200 votes will be issued to you. If you pay your subscription to one of the contestants or some one that is working for one ot them, that contestant will be entitled to the benefit of your votes. We Wa_rvt Contestants. We want one or more contestants from every locality of the county to enter this race. It will take a little hustling on the part of the contestant to see her friends and get them to subscribe for The Frontier, but the ones winning will be more than paid for their work, as the prizes we are offering will denote If some member of your family or some friend will become a contestant, or you think should become a contestant, send her name to The Frontier, and the name will be announced. There is no fee or charge of any kind. You can send the name in by letter or telephone, or you can call at the office and give us the name. We should have the names of the contestants as soon as possible so that they will get an early start and have a good chance to win out. There will be no “ifs” or “ands” to this contest and no strings to it in any way, one contest ant will stand as good a chance as the other. The names of the contestants entered will be published in our paper as soon as they are all entered. The votes each one receives will be published from week to week after the voting begins. The following proposed amendment to the constitution of the state of Ne braska, as hereinafter set forth in full, is submitted to the electors of the state of Nebraska, lobe voted upon at the general election to be held Tues day, November 6, A. D. 1906. Be it enacted by the legislature of the state of Nebraska: Section 1. That at the general elec tion for state and legislative offices to be held on the Tuesday succeeding the first Monday in November, 1906, the following provision be proposed and submitted to the electors of the state as an amendment to the constitution. Section 2. There shall be a state railway commission consistingof three members, who shall first be elected at ttie general election in 1906. whose terms of office, except those chosen at the first election under this provision, shall be six years, and whose compensation shall be fixed by the legislature. Of the three commissioners first elected, the one receiving the highest number of votes shall hold his office for six years, the next highest four years, and the lowest two years. The powers and duties of such com mission shall include the regulation of rates, service and general control of common carriers as the legislature may provide by law. But in the ab sence of specific legislation, the com mission shall exercise the powers and perform the duties enumerated in this provision.
