Cutting, one of the old settlers of Page, died at Grant’s Pass, Ore., Aug. 6, where she went with her nephew, Leon Hunt about two years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gallagher start ed Thursday morning for Tekama where they go to visit Mrs. Gallag her’s sister, and old acquaintances. Dr. H. II. Bryan was hastily called to Middle Branch to see Rev. 15. Blain and found him suffering with a brok en rib and a general shaking up caus ed by a fall from a scaffold. During the electric storm Tuesday night, a Dolt of lightening struck a stack of grain for JuliusGlauser north of town, and destroyed it. Another bolt struck Frank Shober’s fence, split ering a number of posts. Last week our new jail received its first inmate and consequently was named “Hotel de Blinkum,” after Oran Closson, who was arrested by constable Schmidt upon information received by telegram from Fremont, which stated that a person answering Closson’s descriptian had stolen a gold watch from one of Uncle Sam’s colored soldiers. The constable found the watch in the possession of Closson who stated that it belonged to the soldier and the reason he had it was that he had forgotten to return it. When the complainant arrived in Ewing, he stated that the watch was taken from him while asleep on the train. The stolen property was returned to the negro and the prisoner was released upon i lyment of $5 to help defray the expense of coming after the watch.— The Advocate.
