Board went into committee of the whole with Conard Kramer in the chair for the purpose of settlement. At 12 o’clock m. the committee arose at which time the board ad journed until one o’clock p. m. One o’clock p. m., board called to order in regular session, C. Kramer was chosen chairman pro tern. On motion the following bonds were approved: G. A. Davis, justice of Peace, Conley township. Weller be appointed constable. On motion the petition was granted. The following resolution was read: Mr. Chairman.—I move you that the county attorney be requested by this board to at once examine all bank bonds and bids on file for the deposit ing of county money and that he give this board his opinion in writing within five days as to their legality and if in his opinion the bonds are legal. Also that he advise us by his opinion in writing whether or not the board has the legal right to disregard the bids now on file and solicit bids from banks outside of the county that are not public depositories in their respective counties, that will pay at least three per cent interest on county deposits. The following resolution was read: Mr. Chairman.—I move you that the county clerk be instructed to at once ascertain the rate of interest paid by the banks on county deposits in ad joining counties, and in the counties along the Northwestern railroad as far east as Madison county and as far west as Dawes county and report to this board at once. Conrad Kramer, C. D. Keys. On motion the resolution was ad opted. The following resolution was read: Mr. Chairman.—I move you that C. Kramer, C. D. Keys and Rodell Root be appointed a committee to confer with the banks of this county in the matter of interest on county deposits and that if the commit tee find that the banks of the county will not pay at least three per cent on county deposits, then that the com mittee be empowered to solicit bids outside the county for the county money from banks that are not public depositories in their respective counties. L. E. Skidmore. On motion the resolution was ad apted. On motion L. E. Skidmore was ad ded to the committee. On motion the claim of Ed F. Gal lagher for #333, the amount of the bond of the county treasurer was al lowed. Kramer, Chairman. On motion the report was accepted. Affidavit was read from E. D. Henry in regard tc taxes on the NE 20-30-10, the same was referred to tax committee. The Board then went into commit tee of the whole. At 5 o'clock p. m. the committee arose at which time the board adjourn ed until nine o’clock to-morrow morning. W. P. Simar, Clerk, C.
