Chace, generally known as “Tene,” has been engaged to look after the interests of Riley Bros., on their ranch near Amelia, where he will be located about the first of next week. The O. E. S. had a very pleasant social last night in their hall, in honor of Bro. J. N. Trommershausser, who expects to return to his new home at Eufaula, Ind. Ty., next week. The evening was spent in playing cards and enjoying a most excellent lunch provided by the ladies of the order, who seem to understand just how such things should be prepared to make one feel that life is worth living. The death of neighbor Claude Patrick at Cleawater, on the 5th, of appendicitis, at the age of 21 years, is another evidence of the uncertainty of life and should be a warning to all members of the beneficiary orders, and teach them the importance of looking after the timely payment of assessments and dues. We understand he was a member of the Workman as well as the Woodman, and in good standing, which will be a great bless ing to his young wife and mother, to whom we understand the beneficiaries are made payable.—The Advocate. He had taken a car load of horses there and was a witness of the theatre fire of last week. Myrtle and Mabel Van Fleet return ed from O’Neill Saturday, having spent several pleasant days visiting their aunt, Mrs. B. S. Gillispie. On the first day of January Father Muenlch decided that the young men of his congregation were in need of advice and assistance conducive to a better phase of life than that offered by the common surroundings in At kinson, and on that day addressed his remarks to them in particular. Be coming enthused with the subject he invited the young men to come for ward and sign a pledge to “pass up” all forms of gambling and liquid re freshments during the year 1904. The result of his plea was most gratifying and almost suprising. About forty young men came forward immediately and signed their names, and have now organized themselves into literaries, musicals, etc. Tnis is a grand step taken by our young men and it should be encouraged by every one of our town folks. More of such organiza tions might help to keep our young folks from the temptations ot our town.—The Graphic. “The nicest and pleasantest medi cine I have used for indigestion and constipation is Chamberlain’s .
