The evening session at the opera house—how shall it be described. Be fore attempting to do so the Graphic wishes to say that it only voices the sentiments of every guest in thanking most heartily the committees and in dividuals who in any way contributed to this great social success, in decora tions, in music, refreshments, in oratory, in whole-souled sociability manifested in ways that sent every guest home declaring that Atkinson citizens were the best people on earth and Atkinson the best town anywhere. The arrangements were apparently perfect. The large room was fitted with small tables at which guests and citi zens were seated while a group of At kinson’s fairest young ladies served refreshments and the Atkinson Par lor Orchestra discursed their best music which means second to no body’s. The musical program was further enhanced by a violin solo by Miss Bose Scott and a vocal solo by Miss Phoebe Scott, both of which won the hearts of the audience to these charming and talented young ladies. Rev. Father Muenich caught the spirit of the occasion and sang a comic song, playing his own accompaiment, and was immediately compelled to re spond to an encoic in like manner. G. M. G. Cooper, of Rushville, re sponded to the toast “Influence of the Press,” in a fitting and eloquent man ner, and L. M. Bates, of Longpine, re sponded to “The Ladies” in a manner that made his popularity paramount the remainder of the evening. One of the best features of the pro gram, and one which was encored and repeated, was a comic operatta ren dered by Misses Rose and Phoebe Scott and Willis Murphy, assisted by Mr. Sweet of O'Neill, with piano accom paniment by Mrs. Scott. Rev. Muenich delivered the toast to “Our Guests,” and with his eloquence and witticisms captivated the ■audience. Ray News. Mrs. Twyford visited Mrs. Bigler Sunday after noon.
