The Iron Horse Next Week. Track-laying from Verdigre began today, and, barring accidents, the con struction train will poke its nose into Niobrara by next Saturday night. It is claimed that the tract of Indian land in Gregory county, at the termi nus of this line, will not be opened by the government for homesteads until tlie Elkhorii has its line completed to Bonesteel and is ready to carry the passenger business connected with the rush. The section to be opened aggregates 416,000 acres, or 2,ooo free homes of 100 acres each. The chance system will be used, and Boncsteel will he the location of the drawing. Tin' Klkhorn road expects to make $1,000,000 out of this opening, enough to cover half the expense of its new extension from Verdigris to tlie scene. As near as can lie said at present the opening will be on September 22, or within a few days of that time. The Kikoin expects to be in completed condition for service shortly after September 1.
