-■> Dm Moines Capital: From oar “ neighboring common-wealth of Ne braska, comes a tale of woe well cal culated to touch the hardest heart. 1 It is one of those harrowing stories of the divorce court. And such promises to be a final outcome of the present case. A farmer residing in the vicinity of Fremont has ■; brought action to sever the nuptial bonds which have bound him to a ’■i certain conscienceless specimen of of the female gender for several , long and weary years. In his petition he recitM that for four years he has been a humble worshipper at the shrine of 10 to 1. That by day and night he has felt moved to sing the praisM of Mr. Bryan, the Peerless one, whose local habitation is by the silvery waters of the gentle rolling Platte. That he has verily believed that Mr. Bryan, was the Moses whose mission it was to lead the downtrodden victims of plutocracy into the promised laud where milk and honey flow in perennial richness and where the octopus and the pro glodyte never come. But there has been one source of constant annoyance and exasperat ion. His better half refused to take any such view of the case. She sneered at the good Mr. Bryan. She tnooked her husband as he attempt ed to depict what wouid happen in ease of suocess at the polls. She would even disturb his dreams of victory by awakening him at night to tell him that be was a dunce, an ignoramus, and a feather-brained builder of air-castles. This course or treatment covereu a period from ooe sad but glorious day in November, 1896, when 10 tol received it in the neck until the re turns began to come in on the night of the late eleotion. And then, O, what a scene Was there my country men! As state after stale reported and was added to the McKinley column, and as the hopes of 16 to 1 went glimmering down behind the horizon Of eternal nothingness, then it was that the woman turned upon her astounded and dejected spouce Then it was that the tempest in all its fury broke. Compared with the storm through which for four long years had been passing, it would have been as consistent to oompare * the zephyrs of the June time with the euroolydon which sweeps the Mediterranean sea. The fires of her indignation burned and crackled and glowed. The peils of her ear oasm were uncorked. Her vocabul ary seemed to develop unwanted re soroes. For awhile the poor mau stood it, but at last the strain was too great and he beoame nnoon scions. When he revived the tem pest was still raging. Seizing hat and ooat he sliuked into darkness of the night and made his way to the home of one of his kindred political faith and he never oame back. Compelled as we are to admire the gold standard conventions of that woman, we are levertbless per fectly free to say that she carried matters muoh too far,and we believe the man perfectly justified in askini that a decree of divorce be grant* and also that the woman’s maid*' name be restored to her. ' Theu after the affair is over, I* him go to W chita, Kansas, hav one go >1 long heart to heart tnl with Mr. L st-e, and perhaps af'< < awhile the wo ld will look bri^>' again. 03 110 QUVQNV1S ' Xq ''pvvf <«JoqMiJ0At p|og U»q 4«» uiooj p*q 'oi»a JufMwjp *uiooj *U)U|P Of •ftmpuaoj -jo* qtiA ti|ao(ni«q of •faff aofoo Xtrvui aj psitdaij seipneQxeM VA0QU03 IUOJ| *91003 )iq) ao|3 mo||9u •m n Su|uusq) i^oi )t|4|| ou ‘£|u|*p 09 UOp39[|M OU *4ajaqi ^ LEGAL advertisements.
