The Frontier. PUBLISHED EVERT THURSDAY BY HE FRONTIER PRINTING COMPANY D. H. CRONIN, Editor. STATE REPUBLICAN TICKET. For judge of supreme court: ALBERT M. POST, of Platte. Eor regents state university: 0. W. KALEY, of Webster. JOHN N. DRYDEN, of Buffalo. COUNTY TICKET. For county treasurer: JOHN ALDERSON, of Chambers. For county sheriff: W. M. DICKERSON, of Atkinson. For county clerk: O. M. COLLINS, of O’Neill. For county superintendent: J. C. HARNISH, of O’Neill. For county judge: D. C. HARRISON, of Emporia. For county surveyor: R. E. BOWDEN, of Paddock. Watch Alderson make Henry puff. _ _ _ Habnish will harress Mr. Morrow considerably before election day. Ckabencb Selah will probably remain in Holt county now until after election. Then any old place will satisfy him. Wx would most respectfully call the attention of the editor of last week’s Independent to Wolcott’s Pain Paint as being guaranteed to cure all forms of soreness. Bill Diokibson will make an ideal county officer. He is not a politi cian in any fense of the word, but a straightforward, honest, everyday citizen. Vote for Diokerson. , -►«•»« The gentleman from Willowdale is a standing candidate for office. The man who can find a ticket of Holt county candidates, inued dur ing the past ten years, that has not the name of H. R. Henry thereon, should preserve it as a curio. They are very rare indeed. Tbiasureb Mollis wants to tom his offloe over to his bosom friend - and confidant, H. R. Henry, next 4 January, bat the people will see that Honest John Aldeiaon will be on hand to take charge of the peo ple’s finances. Purge the court house, dean out the politicians! From all quarters we hear words of the highest commendation irre spective of parties, for the entire' ticket nominated by the republicans of Holt oounty. It is a dean ticket from top to bottom. No dd ohronio office seekers or ringsters in the list What more can be desired ?—Cham bers Bugle. Younts 1, No. 1, of the Spdding, Greeley oounty, Grit appeared on our desk this week. It is a bright newsy sheet and is destined to fill a "long fdt want” in a section of the country hitherto lacking in that neo esaary adjunct to all prosperous communities—a good newspaper* D. M. Talbot is editor-in-chief, and. judging by his first issue, is destined to make a winner of the paper. Tbs republicans in state oonven , tion yesterday renominated Judge ’ tor supreme judge, and C. W. Kdey and John N. Dry den were named tor regents of the state uni versity, the former being one of the present regents. The eagle was adopted as the party emblem. It was a big convention and the ticket named is a strong one. Judge Post umB ■erred on the bench bix years 1% «id is an exoellent judge. He will fe hard to beat even with funsion.— Schuyler Quill (Ind.) Th* Holt county conventions were v - held last week In the case of the republicans, very little strife ensued and a very harmonious convention was held. Very little pulling for offices was evident In the case of the free silver forces, where the claim that principal instead of t emulates the voter, the numbered ten and eleven in some caeca and when the deal was over it looked very much as though fusion yfy would fuse in Holt county as it ri .. doss every where else—nit—Blair ggljKlot . Fob secretary of the republican state central committee a man of energy, force of character and some executive ability should be selected, and inasmuch as the campaign must be this season principally a news - paper campaign, he should be in close touch with and enjoy the con fidence of the republican newspaper men of the state. We know of no one who would so completely come up to this standard of requirement as would M. A. Brown of the Kear ney Hub, whom we hope to see selected if he can be induced to accept—Grand Island Daily Repub lican. J. M. Aldebson, the nominee for county treasurer, is one of the first settlers of the South Fork country and is one of our most successful farmers and ranchmen. He is a man of more than ordinary business ability, strictly honest in all his dealings with his fellow men, thoroughly temperate in his habits, and having made a success in his business he has accumulated valu able property. Financially he is a safe man to entrust with the finanoes of the county. We regard the nomination of Mr. Alderson as a wise one from any standpoint from which it may be viewed. We have known him for many years, and we know whereof we speak.—Chambers Bugle. While engaged in conversation the other day with a laboring man, who has no trade but works at any-' thing that he can get to do, we asked him whether or not there was plenty of work, and this is the reply he made us: “I have not been idle a day this summer. Neither have any of the other fellows that have wanted work. There has been two jobs for every man, and wages are better that they! have been for the last four years. 1 know of half a dozen men right now who want help and can’t get it. Wages are from $1 to $1.25 per day and board.” What further proof does any man want of returning prosperity than that? And , we don’t believe that these men are paid with Mark Hanna’s money, either, because some of the employers are pops and they wouldn’t use it Stand up for Holt county! HOLT’S NEXT TREASURER. John M. Alderson was bom of foreign parents, his father being a native of Yorkshire, England, while his mother came from County Wick low, Ireland. His native place waB Highland, Iowa oonnty, Wisconsin. He began life on his own account at the age of 10 years as a regular farm laborer, working mostly for the neighboring farmers near his old home. In the spring of 1890. at the age of 22, he turned his face westward, following the advice of that eminent political economist and statesman, Horace Greeley, to “go west young man and grow up with the country.” He built the first house in Humph rey township, Platte county, Neb., where he was married to the eldest daughter of ex-Supervisor G. W. Kokley, now of Chambers, Neb. In 1882 he removed to Holt oounty with hia family, being the first actual resident in the South Fork valley west of McClure’s ranch. He has built up a comfort able home three miles northwest of Chambers, where, surrounded by a large family he is enjoying the traits of his labors. Financially Mr. Alderson is regarded as being among the most independent farmers in Holt oounty. In offering this gentleman as a candidate for treasurer, it is proper to say that ever since his majority he has ever been true to the princi ples of the republican party but not always endorsing the practices of some of the individual members of the same. His promise that he will, in the event of his election, comply strictly with the law governing county treasurers can be relied upon, being, as it is, the promise of a man who is in the habit of doing strictly ss he agrees in business matters. We bespeak for Mr. Alderson the hearty co-operation and support of every farmer and stockman in Holt county, and espec ially in the south country. And while yon are about it con aider the especial lit Dess of O. M. Collins for comity clerk, Will Dick erson for sheriff, and for county superintendent, an office that justly should be removed from the domain of politics, consider the especial qualifications, educationally, morally and otherwise, of the republican nominee, James C. Harnish. The candidate for county judge, D. C. Harrison, is fully qualified to fulfill the important duties of that office, and if elected will make a strenuous effort to give satisfaction to his most punctilious political opponent. Surveyor R. E. Bowden is too well known to need any special mention. He understands his business, and if elected is sure to give satisfaction. THE ODELL Type Writer.
