Does It Pay.
Does it pay to rent high priced farms
when gohd lands in Minnesota and North
Dakota can be bought on yearly payments
no larger than eastern rentals? Does it
pay to bo a mere laborer when there is a
e.hnnoo in the northwest to become a
laml-owner? There were hundreds of
instances in the lied Valley in 1861 were
farms costing from $10.00 to $15.00 an
acre produced from'$20 to $3J worth of
wheal. Many farms wore paid for from
a single crop.
Thomas Harrison of Blanchard, N. D.
averaged last season $21.00 in cash for
each acre of n 320 noro farm. John Still
of Moorhead, Minn, averages $21.35 per
acre on 230 acres. T. D. Winters of Hal
lock. Minn.cleared enough from 75 acres
of rented land to buy a 160 acre farm
(,!. li. Hrispin of Thompson, N. D. cleared
$780 above the cost of a $3,000 farm. D.
I’hillips cf Niagara, N.D. agreed to pay
1,800 bushels of wheat for 1G0 acres. His
crop for CO acres was 2,300 bushels, which
paid for all the whole farm and all expen
ses. Write to these parties or to John,
Birkhoiz or E. J. Lander of Grand Forks
N. D., Jacob Lowell or J. B. Folsom of
Fargo, N. D., N. G. Larimore of Larimore

Capt. C. J. Atkins, Cando, N. D., F. I.

ticulars.
Titejrensonable thing for renters and
small farmers is to investigate the chances
in the Red River Valley for bome-raaking
and farm getting while land is cheap.
The man who pays rent in the east can
apply the money on better land in the
west, as part payment, and soon become
a landlord himself. Lanas can be bought
on the crop or share plan.
Hundreds of men needed in the Red
River Valley iu the early spring at good
wages, to plow and seed the grain fields.
L'his will give homosoekers a chance to
investigate the country and pay their
expenses while doing it.

10,000 Men Wanted.
In the Red River valley. Last sea
son’s large crops and scarcity of help
made it impossible to thresh the grain
and machines have been running all
winter in consequence. It will require
the above number of men in addition to
present help to plow and seed this large
area. The Sioux City and Northern
Railroad are the Short Lines to all Min
nesota and Dakota points. For moie
particulars write to W. B. McNider,
