Farmers report that corn is making from 40 to 75 bushels per acre in this vicinity, and the quality is first class. Harry Rowen has been on the sick list for several days. John H. Knapp and Harry Stevens, who is working for him, have been doing some big corn shucking. Last week they gath ered and cribbed 1230 bushels of corn, and the field where the corn was gathered was a mile and a half from the crib. Each day they left the field at from 2:45 to 3:30. John got in G30 bushels and Stevens 600. The corn in that field went 57 bushels per acre. The W. W. W. Medicine Com pany were here all last week and did a good business. They con ducted themselves as gentlemen, paid their bills and are coming back again in February or March. They have contracted for the opera house and made all other arrangements for their return date. There The Election in Nemaha Precinct The vote in Nemaha nrecinct Tuesday was the smallest for years, only 173 being cast. Of these the republicans got an av erage on the state ticket of 91 and a fraction, the f usionists 66 and a fraction and the prohibi tionists 12 and a fraction. On the county ticket the republicans did not fare so well. Pollard lost 7 and Doyle gained 8 from above average. Raper for district judge gained 2 and Ashby lost 1. O'Connell and Armstrong gained 1, Hillman lost 6, Phelan 1, Lawrence lost 5 and Parker 17, while Quackenbush gained 15 and Redmond 2. French got his party vote and Lambert 2 more than his full vote. Hack er lost 6 and Conner gained 10. As the nominees of the repub lican party tor road overseer were not printed on the ballot, the clerk at the primary having failed to report them, all three f usionists were elected: Charles Stanley in district 32, Frank Col lin in 33 and George Rhineshart in 34. Last year 198 votes were cast in this precinct. Of this number the republican average state vote was 98. the fusion vote 76, and the prohibition vote 9. The re publicans lost 7, the f usionists 10 and the prohibitionists gained according to this. Quackenbush was the only f us- ionist 'that carried the precinc outside of precinct officers. Shel don and Hopewell, candidates for governor and lieutenant gov ernor, got the largest vote on the republican ticket.
